Probably for the same reason why you don't have a large train network, government funded cars because they consumed oil. America is built around motor vehicles, large wide roads and long winding highways. Oil makes too much money powering those generators.
Exactly, and these oil companies fund the politicians. We could've easily had a system set of high speed trains or electric trams connecting every city and town.

  • Republicans
  • rural areas scared of change
  • white people scared of change
  • greed
  • corruption
  • no focus for the future
  • old ideas
  • avoiding to actually create jobs *thus more focus on automation*
You have some of the most "communist" countries more focus on the future than a country that supposedly more advance than majority of the world :camby:

Conservatives hate solar energy for some reason.

Because it'll eliminate the need to pimp out consumers which voters desire. Social energy needs a good portion of natural resources to make afloat, meanwhile oil can be produced. Thus gas prices can go up and down because somebody is in a bad mood, versus panels that can get a small chunk of the sun for a fair price if not lower.

You can't tax and charge out of the ass for something that stops at 9pm:ld:
