Why is Andrew Luck never scrutinized by the media?

Luck is very average. He's not a "winner" as some on here are trying to allude to, he's just not losing games. He's just ok, but I see where the OP is coming from because I often hear how great he has been when he's been really average.

Quite simple, he's got his team in the playoffs in his first 2 years in the league.

They were the worst team in the game before he got there and he's made a star out of TY Hilton.

There really isn't a ton to criticize

Im almost certain they were tanking now. They went 10-6 the year before, and then 11-5 after. I know how important a qb is, but a qb doesnt play defense and a qb doesnt run routes and catch passes. A qb is not the difference between 10-6/11-5 and 2-14

There was a ton of turnaround on that roster between 2011 and 2012. Also a new coaching staff was put into place.

Which is really why it's not accurate to say that he took the "worst team in the league" to the playoffs because 2011 Colts =/= 2012 Colts.

that as well. Andre Luck is good all but he was not THAT great that you can mainly credit him for that turn-around. He does deserve some credit but not as much as people are giving him. Also it helps that he plays in such a terrible division [houston was much better last year] but this season? They won the division after winning only 8 games, I don't even think the NFC east is that bad

Indy's non-division wins are San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle and Denver.

AFC South is weak but let's not try to paint the picture that Indy is solely the product of playing in a weak division.

And is it really that big of a surprise the the majority of the credit for Indy's turnaround is going to Luck? Fairly /unfairly there's no one else to give it to really.

But Grigson has had his share of mistakes as well. Dude has egg on his face from the Richardson trade, didn't improve the O-line, and has repeatedly faced criticism for throwing money at players like Eric Walden, Greg Toler, etc. And his best pick Andrew Luck, was a Irsay decision.

Add to it being tough enough for GMs to get credit in general, and you see what we see with the Colts.

Still <3 Grigson though. And he is getting his shine, he got the 2012 Exec of the Year award, what else you want?

He's clearly NFL's sweetheart right now. Every time the Colts win, it's: "ANDREW LUCK KNOWS HOW TO WIN, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TALENT." Everytime they lose: "ANDREW LUCK DOESN'T HAVE ANY TALENT AROUND HIM." The dude is nothing special; 6.5 YPA and a 58 CMP%. :flabbynsick:

He was just as bad with Reggie Wayne, so don't give me none of that "he has no Wayne" BS.

I agree with you 100% that all too often, when Luck does make bad plays, he's given a pass and when he does do something great, it's another example of what makes him special. Believe me, as a Redskins fan and full-fledged RGIII supporter, I've had this discussion countless times, so I completely understand where you're coming from. However, you also can't ignore the fact that the Colts were 11-5 last season - with Luck leading the league in game-winning drives - and are 9-5 this season and leading their division. Winning does matter. Whether or not you believe Indianapolis is truly a good team or that Luck is the reason behind them winning isn't important because no one is going to over-analyze the play of the second-year QB when he's 20-10 as a starter and especially when that same team has no running game whatsoever and a bad defense.

Someone also brought up how Luck hasn't proven he's the quarterback that he was hyped to be. Again, as an RGIII supporter, I'll admit that he's had his ups and downs this season, but in no way do I think he's played as bad as people are making it out be but there have been long stretches where he hasn't looked crisp, which is perfectly fine because I know he's far from a finished product. People always bring up the Peyton Manning comparison with Luck as if they expected him to completely skip over the learning stage of his career to putting up 4,500 yards and 35 TDs in his second season. In Peyton's first two years in the league, he averaged 26 TDs and 21.5 INTs per season, including a league-leading 28 INTs his rookie season for a 3-13 team. Even Peyton took a little time to become "Peyton". I'm not saying that Luck will one day reach the level of the greats, just that it's way too early to make that call either way.

Hard to scrutinize a QB that is taking his team to the playoffs for the first 2 years in his career. Plus, he is part of the good ole boys club of football. If he has a sorry year next year, he will not get the blame. He is in a very good position.
