If you grew in an urban environment (as opposed to suburban), college is not an easy adjustment.

People like to look down on the hood like it’s a prison you need to escape. But what people don’t realize is that you’re actually in an insulated environment. You’re surrounded by your own people.

When you get out there in the real world to make something of yourself, you realize for the first time what “white supremacy” really is about.

I used to work corner store/neighborhood jobs all the time and if I don’t like something my boss said I would legit tell that nikka “fukk you” and walk out for the day fully expecting my job to be there tomorrow :mjlol:.

Mid level manager Todd without a college degree at all is telling you to come in for the 3rd Saturday in a row and you have to because you’re on salary. That’s a different type of pain my guy... :mjcry:
I actually had to go out and get my own books. Never mind the fact most of my hs classes never had book. Had to take notes for the first time in my life. Luckily this chick in one of my classes showed me how.

But she laughed at me first :mjlol:

shyt was a HUGE adjustment. Luckily I was on the football team so that kept things kinda structured for me

high school was easier than college..due to my parents being strict about education

in high school..until i got an actual job senior year, my dad said the only thing you need to do as long as you live in this house is go to school, study, and get A's..didnt have a lot of freedom to do or go as i please...there were negatives to that but ill touch only on the positive effects...it got me the grades i needed to receive several scholarship and/or generous financial aid packages to the colleges i applied for and more importantly developed the personal discipline needed

the discipline came in handy when i went away to college..all of a sudden im left to my own accord..no parents no supervision...could do what i want and go as i please with different activities and numerous temptations all around :wow:..but i was there on a full scholarship with criteria i had to make sure i fulfill every semester AND i was a computer science major..that alone made college harder than high school.

11th grade was harder than any year of college for me. 3 AP classes, 2 Honors classes, and a dumb philosophy class that I got forced into.

However, 12th grade was like elementary school.

I think it depends on what classes you're taking, but college in general is harder.

Extinct
  • No pressure
  • Professors actually give a shyt (from tough love approach to laid back approach)
  • Plenty of resources
  • Being able to do college work from home (Internet)
  • Working with like minded individuals for the most part
High school for me was the epitome of the pits. Teachers started to not give a fukk, students having orgies and getting into fights, and just all out chaos. There's too much noise in high school compared to going to college where it can still be challenging, but you have leg work to actually get things accomplished without shyt holding you back but yourself.

Uh. It's not.

Maybe you just didn't apply yourself in Highschool.

Depends what kind of high school you went to. My high school teachers never gave homework because they knew no one would do it. I get to community college and these mfers was out here giving out homework, I was flabbergasted :picard:

Am I buggin or do y'all agree? :ohhh:

High school for me:

-Not really grasping the material
-Constantly angry/moody teachers
-Trying to impress/schmooze people by being a class clown
-Dealing with petty ass high school drama & immaturity
-When I'm trying to pay attention, some goofy ass being disruptive
-Constantly in a daze trying to keep up with homework/due dates/tests and quizzes

College for me:

-Go to class & jot down notes from the PowerPoint/Prezi/lecture
-If there's homework, I can go to the library and do it in a quiet, friendly space, using a computer for research/typing it if need be
-If it's a difficult class (like remedial math & college algebra was for me) I can go to the STEM lab/library and find a tutor to help me
-If it's not necessarily a hard class but there's a LOT of studying/reinforcement of info (like philosophy/biology), I can get a hot cocoa, go to the library, cozy up at a large table with a lamp/reading light and a outlet to charge my phone, in a comfortable office chair (they're like love seats on wheels) and take out my textbook/notes/flashcards and study
-The clubs/organizations are more fun than high school
-I'm passing all my classes because I actually LIKE THEM :gladbron:
-I recently started studying/perusing some GMAT workbooks and they're easy as hell:childplease:It's just critical thinking & deciphering patterns

It might just be because I actually love my major, and I started taking Adderall for my ADHD :manny:Business administration/marketing/business communications. A WHOLE LOTTA people choose majors purely off of the potential money or because they have no clue what they want to do & choose something easy. You have to find out how to monetize your passion, which is cliche af but true. The only painful/boring part of college is actually paying for it, and spending hours studying for the final exam, but other than that it's a breeze.

High school was a breeze. I don’t believe I ever studied, and graduated with a 3.9 gpa. Got to college, in an engineering curriculum, and didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t know how to study, so that didn’t help either.

I graduated, but it was far from easy; atleast to me.

I went to a pretty good high school in NYC. So it wasn’t the type of place where people could easily skip class or sleep in class.

That being said, I usually did my homework right before class or the night before and in some cases didn’t do it and I would still be on the honor roll.

So for me, high school was easy but I definitely had to worry more about deciding what assignments not to do

College is dope because a lot of classes don’t assign too much homework and if they do it’s shyt that’s interesting

College and high school both have a lot of stupid busywork but that’s life :yeshrug:

Edit: Little story, high school I never ever cracked a book to study and I get to college and I’m like, I ain’t taking notes or anything - meanwhile everyone around me is going hard copying shyt.

The first Chemistry test comes around and I think it’ll be a breeze and don’t study. I enter that auditorium and I crack open that 70 question test and realize I don’t know shyt:mjcry: I got a 79 tho :ehh: but that was a wake up call

You gotta study In college if you want to do well
