Why is Envy often overlooked or downplayed? (Jordan, Jay Z, Kobe, Drake)

I've noticed that when Jordan, Jay Z, Kobe or Drake have come up in real life convos, they would overwhelmingly get the most hate or slick comments from other men who are 4-5 years close in age to them. Most other people either like them or they're indifferent. Robert Greene (author of 48 Laws of Power, Laws of Human Nature, Mastery, etc) discusses how envy drives a lot of behavior and feelings but people hide behind other reasons. Ironically it's one of the most glossed over parts of his books.

Have y'all noticed this? I bet most of the Jay, Kobe and Drake haters on The Coli are brehs close in age to them.

You're wrong. A lot of brehs Drake's age have spent the last 15 years basing their entire "outside" identity around Drake, crediting Drake for every success they've had with a female, telling nikkas you gotta vacation on fly islands to even be able to understand Drake's music, etc etc etc.

Things have changed since the Kendrick beef. But before that, even nikkas who didnt like Drake wouldnt say it out loud because they thought it'd ruin their chances of getting p*ssy or something. kendrick beef gave them the charge to say it out loud, but thats just recent times.

It wasn't Gen Z writing dissertations about how writing your own lyrics doesn't matter when Meek exposed the boy. It was nikkas Drake's age.....

As for Hov, Kobe, and MJ, I'll give you that a little bit. For MJ, Kobe and Hov I'd say they equally have guys their age love them and hate them. On this forum you see it especially with old ass nikkas who are anti-MJ/Kobe.

I'm not saying Drake didn't have any male supporters around his age. I'm saying from my convos IRL (not on forums because who really knows who you're talking to), the overwhelming majority of people who have hated on Drake off the rip have been brehs around his age and older. It was surprising at first because I'm outside of that age range and younger than Drake and virtually all the guys my age and younger loved him, including hood dudes. You're right most of his haters were silent about it for years but it would still come out passively if you talked to them long enough. They would nitpick and say slick things like "he's interesting" or "what's that stuff he's doing with his hands while performing" while everyone else around my age was just enjoying the quality music.

But again to your point, they didn't go too hard at him because they didn't want to be viewed as a hater by women. A lot of them really showed how they truly felt after Meek called him out in 2015 and claimed it was only because of the ghostwriting allegations but they disliked him all along and went back to the silent contempt after Back to Back came out.

That's true but Bron hasn't really gotten hate like that from dudes around his age like Kobe did. Most dudes around Bron's age are big Jordan or Kobe fans and they never really viewed him as someone who would dethrone them since his playing style is more deferential and playmaking.

But when u reach a certain level and grow up from the street aspects thats when the hate comes in regardless of age
