Why is Gangsta's paradise frowned upon and Shook Ones put on the highest pedestal??

When Gangsta's paradise first came out, it was considered one of the hardest songs out and everyone was bumping that ish everywhere, gave Coolio that credibility and had him as the biggest hip hop artist out for the moment. In the meantime, shook ones came out and it was a huge underground sensation but that's about it and over the years, the two songs have switched positions where as now Shook ones is one of if not the BIGGEST hip hop classic of all time and Gangsta's paradise is just karaoke status, where if you play it at parties everyone knows the words to it but you don't see any real hip hop head bumping it. Had coolio made a few more of these, would time have given this song a different look?
