I was actually thinking about this last week. Being in your mid to late 20s places you in that buffer period between Gen X and Millennial.

Social media has completely re-shaped Gen X the most i think. It came and reconstructed that generation's norm the most. I was in high school and college when social media started, and exploded. It was a young people's thing, something my older cousins and friends didn't do.

No. mid-late 20s today is firmly within Y. The border of X and Millenial would straddle around those from 1982-84ish.

True, but those of us from the mid 80s to early 90s can relate to Gen X some, becasue we grew up without the internet early on. It was only used in school. It wasn't until the 00s, which would make the mid 90s born kids, true Millennials.

My younger sibling was born in 97, we're both Millenials, but she wont ever remember her life without a computer in the home. The internet to me didint start until I was 4th or 5th grade. I cant related to gen X on a cultural level, but that Internet gap does separates some people on their prospective. I know it does me. I remember my childhood with no technology in the house other than a TV and a phone.

Most people don't want to get old, it's not just generation x. People think it's a bad thing. I don't know why since it's not something you can stop, no reason to be afraid of it.

:ohhh:... So what's the cutoff from Gen X and Gen Y? What's the cutoff from Gen Y and Millennials? Who the hell makes the decision on this stuff?

:dead::heh::scusthov:

The cutoff between X and Y is supposed to be around 1981 since they were the last to graduate in the 90s before the new millennium.

The cutoff between Y and Millennials are harder because generally everyone born in the 90s grew up heavily influenced by the flashy culture and the Internet boom of the following decade. But the cutoff supposed to be around 99-00.

I think it's just a bunch of smart ppl analyzing data to group the birth years. The end of Gen X and the start of the millenials is a bit fuzzy cuz some sites have a cutoff of 1981 for Gen X while others go up to 1984.

According to this site a person born in 82 is a millenial and not Gen X. I think there should be another name for those of us that were born right in that grey area between generations because I kinda relate to Gen X and the Millenials when it comes to life experiences MOSTLY millenials if I'm being honest

No doubt. But being in your 40s, taking selfies at a club while being married, showing off your weight loss, bragging about your new promotion?

I can understand what the OP was saying. Being narcissistic and immature at that age is sort of the norm now.

No but in today's times it's clear in today's 40-50 year old than ever before that they don't wanna get old. The middle age adults 30 years ago gracefully accepted their age and didn't try so hard to fit in with their kids generation back then. Today, you have 35-40 year olds posting selfies in cleavage and liquor straight out of the club like 21 year olds

I don't agree with the taking selfies in the club while being married. but what's wrong with showing off weight loss and bragging about promotions? I'm sure people did that before. They just weren't able to put it on the internet for everyone to see.

Well, we don't really know how they felt about getting old. Even if you are over 30, I doubt you were old enough to know how middle aged people 30 years ago handled getting older. I don't think there's anything wrong with older people posting selfies and drinking, if they're married and all that, then it's wrong but if they're single, then it's fine.
