Dont forget OSU hall of famer and MMA legend Kevin Randleman(RIP)True. I blame the The Ultimate Fighter Show and the Affliction Era for MMA getting it's neckbeard Proud Boy bro image. Before TUF MMA was not very popular in North America. I was paying attention heavy since the late 90's. After TUF everybody swore they "trained UFC", then the Affliction t-shirts came out and forgetaboutit.
Even in the early days of MMA there have been talented black athletes (mostly wrestlers). Kevin Jackson was an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling and won the UFC 12 middleweight tournament. Mike Van Arsdale was another freak athlete from the early days of MMA.

His fight against Bas Rutten is still one of the biggest robberies in combat sports till this day. Bas didnt deserve the strap.

Randleman wouldve been damn near unstoppable if he stepped his submission game up. Dude almost literally killed Fedor and put prime Crocop to sleep. He had all the tools but really limited himself by sticking with Hammer house. I understand loyalty and such but theres nothing wrong with training with others to diversify your skillset. Gotta say that for him to do as much as he did being almost a pure wrestler def speaks volumes.I didn't mean to forget Randleman, lol. He came in near the end of the old pre-Zuffa era and was UFC champ.
Dude was a beast but he refused to work on submissions. He could get takedowns all day and then do nothing with them. But he should've got the decision over Bas.
Mo Smith was the rare stand up fighter that won the UFC heavyweight championship. He won it by countering wrestling but then he lost his title to wrestling.
If you got the time and money, travel to the country of origin for awhile if your serious.
My homie went to Thailand for awhile to train Muy Thai.

I'd watch my tone if i was you, YOU didn't train in MMA.

But....I think the issue here isnt with a lack of blacks as far as mma as a sport, but a lack of interest as far as cross training for self defense. Many blacks limit themselves to boxing and they need to step outside the box no pun.
Skim through a post, not read all of it then reply brehs. You clearly missed the point by miles. The fukk does money have to do with self defense?for what?
boxers make waay more money than the average dude in the UFC and it's not even close.
and not to mention, the sport is n't even really a sport, and I'm a fan of it.
