Far too many Black designers have focused on making trendy and not timeless clothes. There are still guys putting in work like Maurice Malone's Williamsburg Garment Co and Donwan Harrell's PRPS. But, those guys are making timeless apparel so they will be around.

I don't have the link but Dame Dash did an extensive interview on just this. He explained that brands actually pay to have their clothes in stores like Macys and Saks. It cuts into their profits but its done to keep the brand "exclusive."

This is exactly what I was talking about when I said controlling the distribution. Now lets take it a step further. Imagine you own your own store. You now have as much shelf space as you want and can do as you please.

Don't care how hot your shyt is, if you don't place it properly, no one will support it.
