It's about being socially awkward

There's a lot of kids that put their heads into books all day and then don't know how to hang out or make small talk or dance at social events

Being smart IS cool but if u don't know how to socialize, that's where u lose social capital

The coolest people I knew where the ones that were friends with everyone, honor roll or not

Some of these dudes are probably socially awkward hard to relate to or they're annoying to be around

Nobody is intimidated by some goofy nikka nerd because he's intelligent. If someone can't make friends or is seen as lame it's not because they're too intelligent for every one else.

Just wondering. How come adults never check kids when they make fun of intelligence? If kids think theres something wrong with being smart, isnt that planting a bad seed in their head and encourages them to be underachievers or is it necessary to prevent the creation of bigger egos which therefore leads to an increase of ignorance due to ones pride of feeling that they are 100% perfect

Its mostly white people who always pushed that narrative especially in the 90s & towards all peoples of color that attended majority white schools.

I'll keep it a buck. What's with this "social capital" bullshyt that's going on in gen y and z? shyt is lame as hell. Theres literally people faking their whole entire lives, who they are, their family history and the whole nine for that shyt.

The thing I dont get is if intelligence is cool as folks are saying it is how come society doesnt see it that way? All the folks who are intelligent that are looked up to either contributed something to the lives of people so significantly that it HAS to be acknowledged or they have another thing going for them to make them appealing to everybody such as being attractive to the status quo running society. Its never been only because of someone's intelligence.

And why does intelligence have to be built up into this standard where certain concepts that are actually simple if explained as such have be made super complex to the point where learning becomes a psychological issue because of the anxiety from the pressure. It's like they make people feel stupid for not getting something they intentionally make difficult to decrease the amount of people knowing the info if it makes sense.

You know how they demonize the occult, aliens, unconventional thought, anti group think and shyt. This society encourages stupidity.

If the person is attractive and well dressed, and charismatic, then they will not be picked on for being smart.

Unattractive people are not at the top of the social ladder in any group.

This. My son is the classic example. Very bright, athletic and popular. He doesn’t downplay his intelligence. He’s actually a little smug.

Some of my "friends" in high school thought if would be cool to pick on and steal from this "nerd". I put a stop to all that shyt and befriended dude. He would legit down play his intelligence to fit in. We are still friends to this day. He ended up going to an ivy and is a legit muilti millionaire now. Buddy made some good investments that took off.

I'm probably his only non millionaire friend at this point and I know he appreciates what I did for him back in the day. Befriending him was probably the best thing I could have done. All them cool popular kids.from my hs somewhere working an hourly job or selling weed with 3-4 kids talking bout they high school days.

Usually smart kids parents sheltered them greatly. Its shocking to them to be around average people..
