Im probably the biggest cole fan on here, and I agree wit this, not that I think he flopping, cause anybody wit a mind knew he was bigger than the likes of big sean and them nikkaz(I think wale should be up there to tho), but being real I think kdot push is kinda not real, shyt is like he being pushed more than his real life buzz is, and I dont think he will ever go plat again

I'd be shocked if Kendrick's next album isn't bigger than the first...the industry has definitely embraced him and given him the full on push, but that only helps...he's officially the top urban act on Interscope now

I mean before the biggest urban artist was probably game, so I don't think thats saying much, the album sold cause of word of mouth and hype, I dont think he can ever recapture that hype again tho, shyt was like a once in a lifetime thing imo

Da city where the skinny nikkas die
for some reason, white girls really like j. cole. i cant even call it. i've heard white hoes discussing j. cole with nann nikka around. :manny:

black girls like J. Cole too. I feel like we're writing off Jermaine.. he's successfully captured a fanbase that includes: black men, white men, college educated, hood, young girls of all races, and older women of all races.

like someone said, he's the new old Kanye. and he can rap. :whew:

Everybody know the truth bra, jay running that label like a real label, he not being family wit them nikkaz, he just giving them the tools and letting them work, and if they ain't ready they aint coming out, cole is like the only othere artist to drop on the label, and cole did mostly everything by himself and got where he at

I think thats a positive tho. I remember Jay said in an interview he wanted Cole to be an artist with longevity, not just a cat that's here today and gone tomorrow. I mean yeh sure Jay coulda dropped multiple tracks with Cole and taken pics with him everywhere and shyt but then what? That woulda make Cole the same as all the other big name cats out there, all hype and susceptible to fade into obscurity at any time.

The fact that Jay wasnt out there promoting him like that(but still there for him privately for advice etc.) allowed Cole to not only develop a fanbase that genuinely fukks with him for what he embodies(rather than for superficial reasons), but also made him work so much harder to attain the success he currently has.

You can say J. Cole put Miguel on or you can say J. Cole and Miguel were on equal footing and that it was mutually beneficial for both parties. What you can't say is that Miguel put J. Cole on. It's a lie from the pit of Hell. Miguel was a new artist nobody had heard of while J. Cole had dropped The Warmup a year earlier, which received critical acclaim, and was at that point, being propped up as a rival to Drake (not anymore though :heh:)

Loved this cut though. 90s nostalgia like a muthafukka. Feels like the male version of "I Can Love You".

I Mean I hear he is boring but he is outselling others like wale and meek mills but in the same breath i hear that Rocnation do not put any money behind him.

Cole is moving more units than Ross at this point. Outside of Drake and Kendrick, Cole has the strongest fanbase of the leaders of the new school. The only problem is both of his albums start hot but tap out. He has to ride his singles better. If he did I think both of these albums would of been Platinum. I think Cole "BIG" album is still to come.

Also it's not that Roc Nation ain't putting money into him. I think Jay doesn't want to hold Cole's hand and wants him to find his own way through the game without Jay having to again hold his hand. Jay is done holding hands after the Rocafella days with Bleek and Beans. He wants Cole to do his own thing and with "Born Sinner" he did that.

I agree about riding his singles better. Power Trip was a hit and he followed it up that TLC joint which was lackluster IMO. He needed a better follow up single. He wouldve have went plat if he did.

Wasn't Jay not backing up J Cole to the point where people was dissing J Cole for it?

I know Im not the only one who remembers this shyt. :ohhh:
Which is why J Cole not being seen with Hov is part of the marketing plan

Its to succesfully market J Cole as the underdog
