Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
it seems like no one even cares about nas these days meanwhile the masses are always feenin for a HOV verse. Look at all the current rappers, they look say happy to be in HOVs presence and all express how they want to work with him, and at the same time nas is just an afterthought with wack Hennessy commercials. In the real world it's easier to see who's superior but the coli keeps telling me nas is the greatest :mjlol:

He ain't cross over. He brought the suburbs to the hood.

Dude was transcendent and changed the game on and off the mic.

In the hip hop community i don't think this is true.

But in the mainstream? Well cos obv nas don't make as many 'hit' records. Hov is a household name. Nas, well, obviously isn't (outside of new York lol)

I don't see that like Jay's legacy would be bigger in hip-hop circles...

More casual know him, sure but for me that doesn't really count.

Scene/subcultural level they have the same respect by now or similar

Because he's rich.

If Jigga was poor, but with the same discography, He wouldn't have half of the stans he has today.

It has nothing to with music. Jigga is a pop icon.

let's be real, Jay Z was on the verge of becoming Nelly, 50 Cent, Ja Rule status until he married the biggest star in the world :yeshrug:

The funny thing is in my first year in college, all these white dudes I was hanging with knew Jay-z as the man who married Beyonce and the rapper who worked with Linkin Park.
