why is Lamelo Ball ranked 18th in his class?

Cole Anthony, Ashton Hagans (my favorite), Andrew Nembhard from Canada, and Jalen Lecque from the BX would eat his lunch , but Melo have the talent to challenge anybody. Is he the #1 guard, hell no. Melo is more of a 2 guard. That position I would say he sits at the top, though Bryan Antoine from Jerz is the best. He would be #2.
I'm going to look those boys up. I like Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis, two of my favorite players at that level right now

The more I watch this guy the more I'm unimpressed. His handle is shaky, he can't jump, I've never seen him even attempt to play defense, and he cherry picks like crazy. Being honest I'm not impressed with Zions overweight ass either, are there any highlights of this dude taking a jumpshot :pachaha:

His name and fame supersedes his talent. When I watch him play the only thing that stands out is the fact that he takes more shots than everyone else. If it wasn't for lonzo and lavar he wouldn't even be ranked high.

He was building up a rep before he played HS ball, and his freshman performance showed he was up there. Scouts, media in Cali, and the ones in the game thought he would end up being better than Lonzo. Me included. You're right though, right now his ranking is definitely because of Lavar and Zo, but he was destined to be a 5 Star regardless. #1 PG in the nation destined? Stop it.

I don't think Gelo is bad either. He needs to shed that weight and work on his conditioning, which UCLA's SC coach will be working on already. College ball is no joke, he'll either get exposed early or prove people wrong.

Zion is a legit talent though.

His handle is elite for being as big as he is. He's fast, agile, explosive as fukk and can bang on anyone but even more impressive is his control when finishing. Dude be looking like a 6'8" Kyrie out there with some of his finishes but he's doing them ABOVE the rim. And unlike Lamelo he actually has defensive potential. He's a great rebounder and even displays some court vision but plays on a pretty trash team (better than Melos but trash for a dude who is considered no. 1 in his class, I mean Melos sandlot team almost beat them :mjlol:) His jumper is so so right now but those things come with time.

These are the lengths people will go to hype Lamelo Ball. I see why basketball shouldn't be discussed seriously on here :hhh:

As a Celtic fan, Isaiah Thomas says otherwise

What team is out here making PG defense a priority?

No of these PGs can guard each other

Celtics issues were that they only had one player that could create his own shot and Horford can't rebound or protect the rim

I've been preaching this for years, you are 100% correct. PG defense and it's impact is one of the biggest basketball myths out there.

None of the elite point guards play elite defense, and the few point guards that are considered elite defenders like Beverley and Conley give up 30 to elite point guards ALL THE TIME

Celtics defensive rating literally went from best in the league to bottom 5 when Isaiah was on the bench/off. And that's with awful rebounding and little rim protection.

Offense tanked when he left the floor, but that had a lot to do with them not having any other options. They've now added Hayward and Tatum so that should be less of an issue. On the other hand, IT will still be a defensive liability and with Bradley gone, that's one less person to cover for him.
