Orange juice prices continue to break record highs in October

Brazil produces 75% of the oranges in the word. Looks like the Europeans are increasing their demand.
:hhh:
Georgia and Florida need to step up.
:martin:
I remember the days when we bought frozen orange juice and had to thaw it out. Might have had to add water to stretch it out.

Honest answer is when President Trump messed everything up during covid (even playas eff up sometimes), the supply chain was so messed up that products weren't getting where they were supposed to go, leading to extreme shortages. Companies raised the prices to cover their bottom line.

That fool ass Brandon aka Joe Briben fixed the supply chain issues but instead of doing the right thing and going down on their prices once everything was better, the companies decided to keep their prices high and raise them even higher since they saw that we would pay whatever they charge during the pandemic.

Basically this is unfettered capitalism in its final stage and there's nothing any politician can really do cause this isn't illegal. There are no laws against what they're doing. They're simply being capitalists in a capitalist society unfortunately.

Not this time.

During Last year's winter and fall there was an orange disease running wild in Florida and southern Georgia. It decimated a huge amount of the crop and prevents the growing of new orange plants.

The oranges and orange products you see around you are the few survivors or imports from far away, hence the price squeeze.

The race to save Florida's oranges as bacterial disease threatens crops

In fact , farmers are considering changing the entire type of orange we consume in America for a more resistant one. So oranges might taste or look significantly different in coming years the same way bananas changed dramatically in the 1950s during the great banana famine 🍌

Orange juice is my favorite juice but I haven’t bought it in almost a year because I refuse to pay $7/gallon.

And to the clown above me telling people oranges are healthier than orange juice; shut the fukk up…nobody cares. We just want cheaper orange juice
