ITT: People suggest that because the public school system isn't perfect we get rid of it completely. Surely working parents and kids in the K-12 age can do a better job self educating with no curriculum or standards. And surely kids learn everything they know about becoming adults from school, which is why there are no differences in educational and career outcomes across the socioeconomic spectrum.

What is the upside to society for people not getting a K-12 education? There is already a mountain of evidence demonstrating the less education you have the worse off you are going to be 99% of the time.

I didnt say scrap it. The only people not getting an education would be those who's parents dont care.They are the kids that graduate still stupid like you mentioned earlier, without the ability to transition into society.

I also think the cost on good kids when we force these trouble kids to attend school is too high.
Imagine schools filled with children who wanted to be there or at least who had parents that valued education and pushed it.

It took me years of reading ,research and consuming some mind altering herbal remedies to shake that shyt off....thats how i know how much damage is being done to these kids natural intuition,creativity and intellectual curiosity....

I don't think anyone here is advocating 'less education'. Just simply a different model. Home schooled kids tend to be more educated than people who've gone through the prison-esque K-12 indoctrination:

Any normal human being would despise school simply because it's a torturous experience. Children all have a natural curiosity; a hunger for knowledge. Have you ever had a child come up to you and bombard you with questions? Children are natural philosophers; they want to learn. As soon as they step foot inside of a school their curiosity is killed.

Either way some kids will lose/be punished.
Good kids with good parents will lose when their child gets caught up with the troubled kids...

I'd love to see a study on the number of kids that fell from grace after getting caught up in the "wrong crowd".
