I've played football since I was 7. Never had even the slightest sniff of the professional game.

if you took the best athletes from basketball/gridiron football(shyt even baseball) and trained them from young enough they'd become dominant football(soccer) players

the best football(soccer) players even with a lifetime of practice might not even make it on the floor for the best highschool teams for our big three or even fukking ice hockey

now there are exceptions but overall it is what it is

Every single kid in the UK grows up having dreams of playing pro. Every kid, no exeptions. Thats a lot of potential players for these clubs to pick from. And even if you do end up signing schoolboy terms with a top pro club, you still may not make it to the first team; you may not physically develop how they wanted you to, you may get seriously injured, or (and most commonly) you'll be usurped by a older, better, foregin player, and have to leave the club to a club lower down in the pyramid in order to play.


And 7 is early enough. Probably too early. Players are usually brought into clubs at around 9-12 years of age.

End of the day, like everything like this it's all built from the environment your in so the arguments are a waste of time. I'll argue soccer is the best sport in the world, but if I grew up in New York I'd argue American Football or if I was middle class in the UK i'd possibly argue cricket. In other words no argument is 'right'

the difference is that all the countries that play soccer were founded on an ethnic identity, whereas America, for as racist as it was even back in the 18th century, was founded on an idea. So this slippery slope you're trying is pathetic.
