no, but your best player is 5'5 so bad genetics clearly won't hold you back.
Co-ordination. Acceleration. Agility. Balance. Yes, centre of gravity. Tend to be better if you are short. "Bad genetics" is being short and slow.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 6'2 and is lean but muscular. He doesn't have the agility or balance of Messi partially as a result. But of course he's stronger and is able to score more headers.

The beauty of "soccer" is that there's a position for every body type. The barriers for entry are low. You just need a ball. You can be 100% athlete and have limited skill and do okay. You can be 100% skill and have zero natural athletic ability and also do okay. There's probably 9 positions.. maybe 10 with different skill sets and ways to play them (GK, fullback, wingback, centreback, defensive midfielder, central midfielder, wingers, #10, striker.. inside forward is perhaps another position).

Exactly this...same reason basketball is so widely played throughout the world bc all you need is a ball and you can at least work on your handles.
You need to be tall to have any serious chance of being a basketballer though. That immediately rules out 70-80% of the population. And it's even worse in developing countries where people tend to be shorter.

Question: do you need a proper basketball to learn the basics? I ask that because i've been to South America & Africa and seen kids play football. They aint using real footballs (in size) but they do the job. What's it like for basketball?

The weirdest thing about soccer to me is which countries its not popular in. Basically the larger British colonies. Sports distribution is always interesting to me. Like why are motorsports and basketball so popular in Spain. Its obvious in places like Italy or Germany, but why Spain with motorsports? Why Baseball in Japan and Korea? Yes, soccer is popular, but its not the most popular everywhere. Consider its lack of popularity in India, China and the US. That's a huge chunk of the world population.
Like the South American British colonies? Like the French North and Western African colonies?

slept-on post. Soccer is an artifact of monarch worship. The truth is, baseball, football, and basketball are far superior on a mathematical level. It takes a higher level of intelligence to understand why these 3 sports are superior to soccer in pretty much every technical category and metric of what constitutes competitive sports. Which is why it's no surprise that soccer appeals to the lowest common denominator :yeshrug:

for people saying that means I'm saying soccer can't be fun: wrong. Fast food is extremely popular because it is cheap and tastes great to a lot of people (here, taste is an analogue to "fun"), but that doesn't stop clean eating (which can also taste great if done right) from being much more nutritious and biologically desirable body.
This is an example of someone who is full of shyt

any individual who practices enough from an early age can become a pro football(soccer)player

as for the top money sports in america if you are not born to be 6'9 300 lb & run a 4.2 40yd/ with a 48 inch vert then tough luck making it into the nfl or nba

part of the popularity of football(soccer) is due to colonial rule part of it is that football players are more relatable
they are just every day people who happened to start working on the necessary skills to play the game from a young age

football(soccer) makes the dream that anyone can make it seem real

football(soccer) is inclusive to the common man

sports like gridiron football and basketball are exclusive to the few freak athletes on planet earth

all in all its only entertainment*

:comeon:

I've played football since I was 7. Never had even the slightest sniff of the professional game.

If you think being tall and fat is being a good athlete you are just stupid, the important thing is talent / skills / dexterity.

Now I understand why you never won a FIFA World Cup (The most competitive sport event in the world / history), you suck.

lol @ 5'5

my point exactly....just have 2 legs..and good cardio....you can become a soccer star

You need talent, unlike Basketball where you need to be tall, or HandEgg where you need to be fat, or Baseball where you don't need a shyt.

this argument it's a cac sport or a colonial support means nothing. If it was't for the slave trade brehs in US would be in Africa playing it and think American sports are BS. Pretty much all major sports rose from colonialism and just general trade and sharing of ideas

End of the day, like everything like this it's all built from the environment your in so the arguments are a waste of time. I'll argue soccer is the best sport in the world, but if I grew up in New York I'd argue American Football or if I was middle class in the UK i'd possibly argue cricket. In other words no argument is 'right'

Yes, my argument is right, this is simple... This is a rational thought and an objective argument:

American Football: 3 hours of commercials + nothing and 12 minutes of p*ssy Rugby. If you play a sport dressed by your overprotective mom is because you are a girl or you are gay.

Baseball: 3 hours of commercials + nothing and 15 minutes of the most boring sport in the World.

Basketball: A sport where it is more important to be very tall than talent that is stupid... it is not a good sport. Also there are many commercials, all is a foul, if you touch an atom of your opponent is a foul, what the fukk?

True Football: 90 minutes of a fluent sport, talent is what determines greatness, there is a reason of why it is the most played and watched sport in the world... in completely different cultures, Natural Selection determines which sport is better and True Football is at the top far away from the rest.
