Validation from those percieved as the most valid.

If your not looking for validation from the streets. Your probably looking from validation from the white man. Its two sides of the same assimilation coin.

This is why knowledge of self, and deprogramming yourselves is important. Once a black man/woman does this,he will find both to be invalid.

Warning: But then you may also find yourself miserable and alone. Because there will be very few people you view as valid, and very few who will give you the validation most humans naturally crave. Welcome to your higher self:respect:

Because we have nothing else. No other image to look up to besides that one and it's by design.

You don't see black scientists and inventors and mathematicians and programmers being pushed in our community anymore.

The only people that black youth have to look up to is these gangstas in rap who in turn produce more gangstas.

It's a never ending loop. We need another image QUICKLY and we need to put it out there to both ourselves and the world.
designed by who?

from my vantage point we (black people) are doing it to ourselves now

were constantly measuring "how black" someone is before they're accepted.

the judges are our ignorant...
as well as folks that profit from the ignorance (entertainers, politicians, etc...)

We are definitely doing it to ourselves but there's a reason why white execs jumps for a chance to promote gangsta rap over conscious rap. The argument can also be made that they push that because that's what the people want but there was a time when conscious and fun rap was at the forefront but somewhere along the way, our people developed strange tastes. If somebody came along rapping Queen Latifah content from the 90s, they would get laughed out the room. We want Sexxy Red now. :ld:

the same reason unhealthy food is pushed more than healthy food

its what people want

ive completly given up on the idea of saving everyone...
there just needs to be a certain of percentage of black folks that move on and have no problem being semi ostracized (called a c00n or whatever).

our kids need more examples of different black experiences...
different forms of black thinking...
different forms of black living

little to no work involved, go to sleep and wake up when you please, you can eat out for breakfast lunch and brunch wherever you want all day, buy whatever u want with out mentally budgeting, go wherever you want with out getting approved for PTO

its the definition of freedom

until u get caught

Because we are told by our music, media, movies, etc. that it’s the way to be remembered. On the flip side, we’re told that doing things the hard way (going to school or getting good at a trade) and grinding until you get to the top, is boring, lame, etc. And once you get a taste of the adrenaline that comes with the streets without consequences, you’ll continue to chase that high until it ultimately leads to your death or imprisonment. Not enough is said about the allure…

I think majority of coli have been there. When we young, parents are middle class, but the street sht just appealed a lot more.

This wasn't my experience.

But I think it's a natural instinct for men to go out in the world to prove themselves, to take risk, to brush up against danger, to seek glory.

In the myopicness of urban black America, this path has been the streets.

In rural Appalachia, it's the army.

In Greenwich, CT, its trekking around the world with buddies, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, or building million dollar makeshift submersibles to dive down to the Titanic with rich friends.

It manifest itself in different ways when you account for race/class/location, but the instinct is the same.

street cred matters cause authenticity matters in every culture.

It just so happens that these dudes value a form of authenticity and a fast life that has the highest risk/lowest reward of all..
