Eating your run of the mill vegetables from your local grocery is better than nothing. I add spinach, cucumber, peppers and tomatoes in my food daily and its still cheaper than when i was eating McDonalds and kfc pretty much every day.

Why do you think most poor\lower middle class black people are eating KFC and McDonalds everyday.....?

A lot of excuses in here.

Yeah, if you go all in... all organic everything, it's more expensive. But conventional fruits & veggies are better than fast food everyday.

And what are your priorities? Did the widescreen tv, nice car & brand name clothes come before good eatin'?

If health is a priority for you, it's easy.

Fruits and veggies be like 1$ a pound. Gtfoh. nikkas just like eating shyt foods. A bag of kale ain't expensive why you fat fukks lie for? A pound of bananas ain't expensive. Green beans are cheap. Why y'all fatty fukks lie for. We all have access to grocery stores and know the prices. Matter fact we on the internet we can get to posting prices.

I'm a pescetarian; fruits and vegetables are a huge part of my diet. While some fruits and veggies can cost $1 or less per pound, many of them do not. Bananas, some apples and oranges, and a few other fruits may cost $1 or less, but fruits like plums, peaches, kiwis, pears, etc... are more. Lets not even talk about the cost of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, blackberries; that shyt will put a dent in your pockets.

The same goes for a lot of the vegetables, while generally cheaper than fruits, you have some expensive veggies too, such ass asparagus, avocados, some types of mushrooms, etc...

And you better be balling when talking about nuts such ass almonds, pecans, walnuts, etc...

Even garlic is high as fukk!

Now, I wish my people would eat healthier too, and a lot of times people are just making excuses. But the fact of the matter is, it's much cheaper to eat unhealthy. Sometimes I wish I ate meat (no homo) when I'm paying $10.99 for a pound of fresh salmon that I will finish in a day and a half, when I could buy a family pack of chicken and hamburger meat for the same price.

Also, its a cultural thing. People in my family look at me as weird because I basically only eat fish, fruits, and vegetables, drink water and tea, and eat shyt like nuts for snacks. It's just not the lifestyle that my community is used to.

Its not expensive the lies stop here. I'm not an expert on how to handle ones finances. But I do know that everything outside of food, water, shelter, and energy aren't necessary. I grew up poor and around poor people and I know what we spent our money on. It wasn't eating healthy. Can't have cable and a blu ray player and an HD TV. Nike's, Adidas, and Jordan's. And video games and tablets. Buy not spend money on fruits and veggies. Health is number 1. With out health I wouldn't be able to accomplish much if I'm :flabbynsick:
There's no excuse for the vast majority of peoples health issues. Its called a budget. I budget my money and maximize my potential. We need to stop pretending that we not spending all kinds of money on shyt we don't need when we have health issues. Its horse shyt. Don't be disingenuous. We need to be educating. Make a damn budget with a list of foods and make a price range for different levels of incomes. Matter fact I'll take that initiative. I'll work on that today. I'll put the work in the research that shyt. Too many talkers not enough doer's.

The black community was never silent on these issues. :dahell:

And if you had to deal with this shytty white supremacist country constantly vilifying you on a daily basis that would probably mess with your blood pressure too.

Perfect example is my boy Anthony mason. He was in top physical condition and let himself go after the nba. CHF that caused his death probably stems from an MI or Hypertension that developed and was not controlled. If you don't control that shyt it'll harden your arterial walls and make your heart work even harder.

I think health is affected more by your diet. that's the root of the problem.

Not saying he didn't,but lowkey a lot of these NBA premature deaths are probably due in part to the players' extreme height; being a foot or more taller than average places extra strain on the cardiovascular system.

A lot of my family is middle class and fat as hell :francis: hard to blame poverty on that...when i started eating healthier and tried to put family on game, they thought I was a traitor:mjcry: money is one thing...but then u gotta change the mentality of eating at buffets after church service

Exactly; what a lot of white liberal types are afraid to admit is that it's cultural. Drive around PG county some time; a lot of these fat families eat greasy fattening food cause they like it, not because they can't do otherwise :yeshrug: Also we tend to have different perceptions of body size/image than white folk.

Diabetes and high blood pressure arent just impacting over weight people. Type 1 diabetes is just as bad as type 2. And anyone can get high blood pressure.

Well fukk that cac Liz Taylor, we got the real Queen of Denial right here :troll:

Breh, you need to get out of here with that holier than thou attitude. Your'e not the only one that grew up poor and knows how to budget your money. And what the fukk are you talking about saying don't don't be disingenuous :what:

I specifically countered your assertion that "Fruits and veggies be like 1$ a pound" by stating that while some of them are, many of them are not, especially the higher quality ones. I did that by giving you personal examples of my experiences as a health conscious black man. I'm in the produce section 3-4 times a fukking week. As well, I stated that I wish my people would eat healthier and admitted that we do make a lot of excuses. But to sit here and act like eating healthy is cheap or some shyt is outrageous. You need to get a grip.
