More than 40 percent of non-Hispanic blacks have high blood pressure. If you're African American, there's a good chance that you, a relative or an African American friend has the disease, which is also known as HBP or hypertension. Not only is HBP more severe in blacks than whites, but it also develops earlier in life.

:why::why::why: it's almost like it's :manny: a black people thing, but a large portion being sloppy overweight/obese as well as the food :ohlawd: does not help.

is 40% epidemic status and are the brehs more educated nowadays and throwing red kool aid and fried chicken inthe bushes?

Unfortunately theres such a high percentage of us living paycheck to paycheck. When that happens you tend to eat what you can afford. Healthy food cost more money. Every time I go into A Whole Foods I hardly see any black people there except the employees. I make decent money and I can barely afford Whole Foods so I kno the average black family cant.

Our health, and going to get check ups in general is an issue within the black community. Whether it is due to lack of insurance, money, lack of information, or just mistrust of doctors in general.

That being said, I hear it discussed a lot. They do health fairs here for sure. There are organizations geared towards informing people and setting up the moblie clinics and health fairs. Doesn't take much to get involved if it is a concern of yours.

Eating healthy is not expensive at all. Let's stop with the constant excuses. The problem is that it's too boring compared to unhealthy processed food and it takes willpower to maintain that lifestyle.

Perfect example is my boy Anthony mason. He was in top physical condition and let himself go after the nba. CHF that caused his death probably stems from an MI or Hypertension that developed and was not controlled. If you don't control that shyt it'll harden your arterial walls and make your heart work even harder.

I think health is affected more by your diet. that's the root of the problem.

Im not making excuses for anybody. We got kids out here whose only meals of the day are free breakfast and lunch at school. Most people develop poor eating habits early. How is that the kids fault?

Eating well is actually cheaper than eating out and exercise is free.

Ppl just have to make it a priority.

Ima put you brehs onto this website I've been using the last two months where healthy meals are made. The guy that put it together is some breh from Texas and he has so much variety of foods you will never get tired of cooking.

Fitmencook.com is a gem! I've cooked for some people and they've been impressed on how healthy food could taste so good.
