Why is the colorism discussion always centered on dating?

The real question is why black people so obsessed with colorism anyways?
When you learn to love yourself and love your skin, you should only deal with like minded people.
2021 should be all about loving yourself and your skin. We need more Black pride.
White people taught us it's okay to hate your own and that shyt really needs to come to an end.

This is a good question.
My main problem is; yes, colorism exist among black people in America.
But, we talk about it like we have a full on caste system like South Africa or India.
There's no lightskin Barbershops. No Lightskin banks, etc., etc.

You're right... My kids are also lighter toned and they get special treatment if I'm being honest. I remember we were at state fair and this young lady tried to let my son jump like six other kids.
Let's not even get on my daughter... Graduated HS with a 3.6 GPA that I know she didn't deserve and I hate to admit that.

The conversation amongst bp centers around dating bc that's the one area (dating and mating) bp control. We already know how wp discriminate against us, and that ds get the worst of it, though some of us like to deny it.

everywhere there is Black people there is colorism amongst Black people...
doesn't need to be a cast system for shyt to be bad. just look at hollywood and how opportunities have traditionally gone to fairer skinned people. this same scenario played everywhere in society.
hell I always hated how Black men act around light skin Black women or mixed Black women compared to Darker Black women. the simping hits different gears.
Bc colorism is a mostly female conversation & alotta females obsess over why their not a man’s certain preference when he rejects them.
They use it as an excuse for everything that’s wrong with their dating prospects, when colorism is more important than that (closing, jail sentences, etc). It’s a very selfish and simplistic thing to always boil colorism down to why won’t he date me. Not everyone is gonna like you get over it.

The way I’ve seen people discriminate against my dark skin brother vs me who is lighter skinned even by other black people is something that made me so angry I hated everybody for awhile.
I don’t see how anyone can argue that darker skin black people don’t face harsher treatment (historically and currently) than lighter skin blacks. Both inside and outside of the community. The norm of white supremacist America is that white is right, so being close to that is preferable.
