To me one of the biggest examples of rap going too far and limiting black art is actually Empire State of Mind. To me that song should replace or be equal to New York by frank Sinatra as the signature song for the city. But it can't because jayz is cursing and babbling about crips.

Although it does a capture a moment it's not a timeless song, I think it could have been if jayz had not cursed and simply rapped about the greatness and history of the city

In the future that song is not something 5th graders in music class are gonna learn

Above the fray.

It's like no matter what type of song it is ..it could be an upbeat dance song like the above...and the rapper will force atleast 1 bar about violence to another black person. :why:

Damn near like it's mandatory :why:

"Think back when I was robbing my own kind
Police ain't pay it no mind
But when I started robbing them white folks
Now I'm in the pen, with soap on rope
Said it before, and I'ma still call it
Every MFer with color is Most Wanted"

Remember in The Godfather when they said to sell the drugs to the dark people and let them lose their souls? This is what they meant

White executives selling you your own destruction

Yet they are the ones drugged out with a tanking population.....:skip:

Black men do not respect themselves :yeshrug: . Combined with the "real nikka" lifestyle alot of black men and women glorify.
Heavy programming, self hate and weak minded shyt. It's like some brehs sees the world constantly attacking the designated villian of society, seeing him as lowly and treacherous inflicted by the media/ W/S and instead of dismissing these notions he willingly wants to join in on the destruction since in his mind, what he sees on a day to day basis getting disrespected, targeted, shamed, killed has no value.

Brehettes on the other hand seem to be far along in getting tired of unwarranted disrespect and bullshyt and in result more on code than brehs especially online.

A lot of bm today have two things that are preventing us from advancing (and I'm not saying I ain't victim of it) and that's just ego and nonchalance or just allowing shyt to fester. Motherfukkers got that 'I'm the only main character everyone but the homies are opps' syndrome instead looking it like we're all main characters and are most powerful when combined to defeat a common threat.:yeshrug:

It’s like them folks stopped going at rap completely until the rappers say something they don’t like. Remember the “why did Bush knock down the towers?” Fiasco. Jada can say all kinds of gun and drug bars, but somehow this one line was out of bounds. They are ok with you killing a million nikkas on record, but say something worth a damn though.. You’re the top story on Tucker Carlson and them. shyts crazy smh

That gangsta rap was bad, cursing is bad. Rap is bad for the black community

Admittedly it sounded like BS, especially if you're a hip hop head and you consider gangsta rap a sub section of rap

But overtime I think she was right, it's led to the point we're all rap songs and rnb songs revolve around ninjas and bytches and scattered cursing. I think black artists are in a box and have limited subject matter nowadays and it's bad for black culture

Lemme stop you here again with this lie, because it is a lie:

C.Delores Tucker’s problem(s) with Gangsta Rap were:

1. It was obscene and violent toward Black women. Just the women.
And the “violence” she referenced most was about the language.
She didn’t give a damn about the violence toward Black men.
Out of her own mouth, she declared the last straw for her was the comic book artwork in Doggystyle…

so not even the music.

2. She had a (literal) share in it.
As a person with shares in TimeWarner (Warner Bros./Elektra/Eastwest/Atlantic/Interscope)
She had some control/influence over the product.

So if you wanna argue she was right, you gotta at least show her real position.
