Why is this?

nikkas see names and start going nutsI never understood why people say the West is so stacked, yet only sent four teams to the finals since MJ retired.

yeah what a powerhouse of a conference, look how stacked they are, I mean any team out west has a shot at the finals
Then comes the usual counter-debate that "if x team was in the east they would make the finals more" which deals in hypotheticlas and just grasping at straws.
Regular season records are cute to look at, but it's pretty much a wrap on who truly has a shot at a finals appearance.
Top tier teams are all pretty much equal but the West has much stiffer competition in its playoff brackets.
the 8/1 seed upsets I'll give you, but that just helps the inevtiable on who is coming out of the west.
When people talked about stacked, they mean that the entire 1-8 seed is pretty damn solid and anyone of those teams is a bad game away from losing the series.
In the East, you had an injured Heat make the finals for TWO straight years and they were the heavy favorites most of the other years.

A game can get you knocked out. OKC getting a 4 game back door win against the Spurs, Grizzlies beating the Spurs, Portland and the Lilliard miracle shot over houston, OKC and Clippers coming down to the wire, etc.

It's all about exposure to SUNLIGHT.
Teams out east get less sunlight and play more of a slowdown, physical style.
Teams out west get plenty of sun and play more of an uptempo, fast break, free-style of ball.
Compare the music from both coasts and you'll understand.
90's G-Funk in the sun music, or grey skies project building Wu-Tang shyt.
