Times are tough, and when that happens immigrants are an easy target to point a finger at.
thats answer is just a copout by people that dont want to confront the negative impact of liberal immigration policies

It is a bigger copout when people want free markets without free movement of labour.
Border state politicians are full of shyt. If you shut off the border cold, where would they get their cheap construction and contractor labor? Agricultural labor? They know this, and they know those taxes are recovered by the property taxes landowners pay. Same old song and dance.
well lets shut down the border and see what happens
We already saw what happens when border security is stepped up a few years ago. You had surpluses of crops in places like Texas, Florida and Alabama and not enough people to pick them, so they were begging people to come and pick their fruit as they couldn't get anyone to do it for what they were paying and it was taking up space in their field for the next crop. Housing starts went way down in states that weren't even seeing financial trouble. The labor shortage still continues to this day in Texas where they can't build houses quickly enough. So the rental markets are skyrocketing(more regulation on workers who build multifamily structures) and apartment building is booming, while new house construction can't keep up pace. A property tax state like Texas wants those single family home sales as they are more lucrative for smaller cities and more attractive to high wage workers.
and? whats wrong with that?
this addiction to cheap labor is ruining the economy because it increases inequality
