1) White people and the race dynamics between the two leagues

2)Gambling

3)Scarcity of product....16 games and the playoffs

4)Playoff format of one and done means that a team that is decidedly worse than their opponent can have that one game where they play out their minds and knock the other out.....while in the nba the better team wins by virtue of their playoff format

5)The players union in the NFL is so weak that their players wont even stand up for themselves. This goes over like gangbusters with white people

6)Tailgating.....mofos like eating greasy food and cheap beer. Football is the perfect sport for that

7)Violence

8)Regional rivalries

black people and white people both love it equally, they have much more of a mixture black and white players, and....its a flat out TEAM SPORT like no other

I mean i know plenty of people who were Cowboys fans, Redskin fans, Giants fans and 49ers fans since they were little kids. The NFL fans are way way more fans of their TEAMS, the NBA is more focused on the stars, its simply more star power focused.

Remember all those Orlando Magic fans when Shaq and Penny played together...whatever happened to them?
:mjpls:

Other than like the Lakers and Celtics and a very others, NBA fans either follow wherever they're fav players go, or jump on whatever team is hot at the moment. Ive never met so many Golden State fans in my LIFE before
:bryan:

and before this Thursday Night football trash started, the games were on SUNDAY, with one on Monday night

NFL season isnt that long either, so pretty much if your team isnt garbage then EVERY GAME counts

BASKETBALL IS MORE ENTERTAINING ON EVERY LEVEL, AND COLLEGE BASKETBALL HAS A MUCH SHORTER SEASON THAN THE NBA .. SO THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE EITHER
Well obviously most of the country doesn't agree with you, so what's left to argue? You asked a question and have gotten dozens of answers. Nothing you say or feel personally is changing the situation, so give it up. Give up the all caps too, because you look like you have aspergers

NBA has had something stupid like only 8 or 9 teams win titles in the last like 30 years.

In the NFL, the goddamn Saints won a Super Bowl in 2010. The Arizona Cardinals were 2 minutes away from winning.

Since like 1999, the Mavs, Spurs, or Lakers have represented the West in the NBA Finals every time except for 3 years. OKC in 2012 and GSW in 2015 and 2016.

NBA has no parity. It's a mundane regular season buildup where the Hawks are always the Hawks and the Grizzlies are always the Grizzlies.

Even in MLB and NHL the lower seeds and small-market non-superstar teams win titles.

You make fair points, but you could say the same thing about the AFC. Over the last 15 years or so its been either the Pats, Steelers, Ravens or whatever team Peyton plays for.

The NBA has had a little more parity than usual the last few years. 6 different champs the last 7 years. No one thought the Mavs were winning in 2011. Going into 2014/2015 season how many people considered the Warriors a title contender?

That's because the best NBA team wins the championship a majority of the time (barring injuries etc.). No one and done, no flukes in a playoff series. Small market teams like the Thunder, Hawks, Memphis have all had title contending teams in the past 10 years. If they couldn't get the job done it's because of players and coaches not the league.

NFL was marketed better decades ago, easier for a casual fan to pick up

But does it even matter anymore? The NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA, etc are all billion dollar businesses. They all have channels dedicated to their sports. Its easier than ever to follow sports you like now, whichever one is on top doesn't really matter unless you watch ESPN all day.
