Why is The Rock such a popular actor?

Not to mention he outworked his peers by miles...man was broke in 95..and by 98 was 100% heading to the top of the world. Hard work got this guy to this point...no one wanted it more.

I mean to be fair, he had doors opened. His pops was a legend, and people on his mom side were legends in the wrestling world too

I like The Rock. He makes wholesome, fun movies for brain dead people. He stays in his Lane and grinds his ass off. I respect him a lot.

The former is true but I really don't think the latter is the answer to this.

He's popular because he's "cool" and seen as cool by not just women, but white men across the board. Why? Because he's a 'racially ambiguous', non "classically attractive" beast who had (and has) a LOT of carryover fans from wrestling. He's not 'black' so he's not a REAL threat, but he's also not white so he doesn't make cac males feel inadequate or insecure.

When people say things about how The Rock pretty much "came out of nowhere" or sum it's like they've forgotten or ignored this huge piece of his personal history/career.

Never in my life have I heard a woman talk about how much she wants to fukk The Rock and there's certainly not enough of them to be 'the reason' behind his box office success. There are some dudes women RUN to the theater to see (Thor/Hemsworth, etc), but DRJ is NOT one of them. At best they'd be perfectly fine with catching him on Redbox or Netflix.

That aside, women wanting to fukk is simply not enough to singlehandedly drive someone's personal brand to DRJ's level of success. Like I said, it's primarily cac nerds and wrestling fans propping him up.

I do and am proud to let it be known, this fool is the male Zoe Sardine(yeah I meant to say it like that on account of her bony like figure). He will happily fill the black quota in a movie but doesn’t show any love for his black side. Always propping up Samoan culture and heritage but silent on anything black, I don’t know why black people even fukk with him.

Honestly makes sense though. His stage name comes from his dad (pops is also a black Nova Scotian).

While him and his dad are close....he's closer to his mom's family than his dad's family since his dad left home at 16 or 17. Lots of famous black folk compared to Samoans...so I could see why he hypes that side more. In movies, he seems to always portray either a "black" character or "black/white" mixed character....which is interesting.
