Why is this comment something that has to be earned?

Had an interesting conversation with a Pats fan surrounding Steve Young's comments yesterday after Tom Brady's poor performance. He claims that Brady earned the type of cover Steve provided him.

I guess his body of 12 plus years of work warrants this, but why doesn't it apply to young qbs who've only seen this for most of if not all of their short careers? Lazy analysis or preference?

Cam Newton woke up out of his sleep when these comments were made and doesn't know why.

Not following you on this one, Reb - if someone puts in work for a long time, they sort of "earn" the right to at least let the season play out. Kinda like how it would be wrong to criticize Jeter this year even if he sucked.

It's just lazy analysis. Too many of these guys go up on the tv and act as if they're the all knowing when some of these things apply to players lower on the food chain. So at the end of the day, they play pretend most of the time and in this case where I fully agree, they want to be honest.

AND? Since when had being a HOF meant anything when sitting on a chair as an analyst? I actually AGREE with Steve here, but I can see that applying to other qbs as well in the NFL and they don't get the type of honest analysis. :manny:

:manny: I hardly ever listen to ESPN to be honest. When I have, Young seems to be pretty much on point. I've always been more guilty of weighing the source than the content, to a fault. That's why I stuck with NFL network exclusively. Give me Kurt Warner's assessment of QB play over Tim Hasselbeck any day.

Same here. And you're right. This was the first time in ages I listened to the ESPN post game.

Dead @ OP just now realizing ppl tend to have blinders on when it comes to ppl they like and/or think are great.

Dead @ ppl acting like Brady went from GOAT to Geno overnight.

This over reactionary society we live in is fukking hilarious.

I honestly laugh at the Pats attempting to throw deep bombs to Edleman & knew coming in they had zero game changers this season outside of Gronkowski.

Funny you mention Geno...who has WORSE weapons than Brady and why he consistently put up the numbers Brady put up yesterday...but he's Geno...while Brady receivers can't open. You prove my point

It's football. Really tired of lazy analysis only getting itself out of bed when it comes to a hall of famer
Oh I'm with you buddy

I have long wondered why does a championship grant you immunity from all criticism going forward by the media

Till This day the only players I have ever seen treated harshly after winning a ship is LeBron and A rod

Everyone else it's someone else fault or their failures are ignored
