Thats where our culture starts, our music, our styles everything. Cacs confused us into thinking the hood was a bad place and it was ignorant for blacc ppl to brag about being from their roots

But don't you think its damaging to consider the hood a part of black identity? Other races don't constrain themselves to certain lifestyles, there's hood whites/suburban whites, hood Asians/Suburban Asians, hood Hispanics/Suburban Hispanics, Why should WE constrain ourselves to the hood?

I agree. I love when any black person reps where they are from and are proud of their surroundings instead of false claiming...where you were born and raised has nothing to do with "c00ning" (that word again smh); what we need is more pride in environment, regardless of where it is. Now if they are expressing this in a condescending way that insults blacks from the inner city, then that is zero tolerance fukkery there. Other than that, its all good

The hood is a place where drug-dealing and ignorance is glorified tho, the hood has nothing to do with being black. We need to get educated and move out to the suburbs and have a larger black middle class tbh, make more majority black suburbs.

Im just telling it like it is bruh. The hood is the backbone of black americans culture. Thats how it is. And it doesnt have the be a negative thing.

When I lived in the burbs in middle school the apartment complex was mostly filled hispanics and blacks with a few whites here and there.
