Moral of the story is, if you die at the peak of your popularity you'll be considered a goat.

If you live long enough for people to see your downfall, what you did in your prime will be disregarded and theyll act like your prime music isnt goat worthy even tho they were probably dikkriding on the bandwagon when u were in your prime.

Only one rapper who's still alive and active today that I see consistently get brought up into goat conversations and thats Jay-Z.. because although his music is trash now he's kept his name relevant by standing next to the right people over the years

X is a legend to me, top 10 DoA...

But he did fall off, by the time the great depression dropped I felt he was kinda limited in his worldview and his skills...

His debut is one of my personal classics cuz he showed range; street anthems, lyrical displays, deep emotional songs and even had songs for the hoz which were cool, but his upcoming albums seemed to try the same formula again and again except they kept gettin' worse and worse... His debut was really natural

Learnin' bout his life story :mjcry: does make u appreciate him more n even then u realize its a miracle he even made it in the first place... Much love to the dog, may God always bless him n his family....

why you got lil wayne effect in the title? you didn't elaborate on it:lupe:
The Lil Wayne effect was around the release of Carter 3 when ppl were still clinging to the, wayne that dropped classic after classic Carter 1,2 Doughts Dedacation and people dismissed anyone who said he was trash for awhile, then really accepted his drop off around time he came out with shyt like Grove street party and started saying dumb as shyt like "Tools on deck home depo".

X woulda never been on a Pac level
If he died because he didn't have the catalogue Pac did. Major singles that came out AFTER Pac died.

Hail Mary
Changes
Do for love
Baby don't cry
Until the end of time
Still ballin
I wonder if heaven got a ghetto.

All this came out from 96-03.

NEVER again, in any genre, will you see an artist die and then hear their unreleased music get bumped on the radio over the span of 7 years as if they was still here.

Then you got all of the other album cuts. stop with that bullshyt :camby:

You can't ask why he didn't in 2014 when the guy is better known for screaming on roller coasters than any song in the last 3 years.

:why:

what does it matter what he did in the last 3 years?

hes in his 40s and basically retired.

keep it funky tho. "hail mary" is the only joint up there that was REALLY poppin like that. the rest of that stuff was only big because he was dead.

altho, i can see "changes" being the huge crossover hit that it was regardless. but then again, that track prolly wouldnt have gone down like that if pac was alive.

Because he's not dead (yet):comeon:

But then again he came out more than 15 years ago and he's semi-retired/musically irrelevant now so that already makes him better than he truely was in "hiphop heads' opinions

How are you going to ask why he's not talked about like Biggie and Pac when he has no music or anything else to talk about for years and years?

He is "basically retired" because he can't make new music people care about. While Pac was dead for 15 years and still managed to put out songs people would pay attention to.
