He set the template all these athletes follow today. He is the first athlete who saw the vision and turned his brand into a business and became a billionaire. There is no such thing as a dumb billionaire. However the media elevation of mj is always focused on his athletic feats. I think i know why :mjpls:

I don't think "business acumen" is that praiseworthy. People regularly refer to him as a pioneer though, like dude above me said.

Yes, cuz cats know if they open this door they will be forced to open another current door that’s even grander.

And some stans soooooo badly don’t wanna be forced to stop stanning/trolling/hating to give that credit that’s way passed due

Mike is very smart by having the right minds next to him...that's the smartest thing everyone who wants to be successful needs.

And david faulk was the right mind for jordan to be successful especially with faulk getting that nike deal for jordan

Cause he picked Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison and he's more famous for this now:mjcry:

But you are right Op:yeshrug:
Kwame Brown was a great player his first few years in the league, only got a bad wrap when he refused to go into a game because they wouldn't play him (playoff game, Eddie Jordan sat him till garbage time) we lost because of that imo. He was performing better than the #2 pick that year (Tyson Chandler) but we can rearrange history based on hate if that's how you was remember things

Adam Morrison I thought was a good pick but was way off.

Jordan also drafted Bobby Simmons who is probably in China by now, just wanted to add him for shyts n giggles.

Finally, instead of Bradley Beal Jordan selected Michael Kidd-Gilchrist :scust:

As for his business acumen? He got a shoe deal like everyone else and was so popular Nike was like "you should have your own line"

This thread is like praising Steph Curry for his business acumen with under armour. It's a great deal that they presented to him. He didn't show up at under armour with his shoe in hand Lavar ball style, neither did Jordan. For all we know, Jordan could be a terrible business man. He got too much money to not be successful. He turned down 10million dollars that he earned... because he was salty. That don't sound like good business to me

He built his brand off the fact that he was the best player and most charismatic athlete of his day. He’s not a traditional self-made billionaire.

He’s still a great business man, it takes savvy to build that big of brand and be that marketable no matter who you are.

Didn’t nikkas used to call MJ a sellout back in the ‘90s for being such a capitalist? :jbhmm:
