I don’t think you dissed him at all. I agree it wasn’t a culmination of decades long hustle (well, in a way it is because he played the part of Jordan brand ambassador very well and bought the team with the money he generated from it) but as they say, in business you only have to win big once. I also think it was a move that’s very synergistic for both his assets (team value going up) and cashflow (more Nike checks from sponsoring his team with Jordan brand). He really is in a great situation because I read somewhere that the nike checks are somewhere around 80~90 mil yearly so dude has tons of liquid cash and the value of his main asset in NBA franchise went up as well. In fact there are a lot of billionaires who suffer from liquidity problems that sometimes they have to borrow cash against their stocks and holdings as collateral. MJ doesn’t have that problem because of those Nike checks.
Bob Johnson bought the Hornets in the first place because he had the liquid cash from selling BET to Viacom.

I agree with you. I am just saying I don't think MJ is a beast business man.

He didnt turn shyt around the sport just grew.
and that's my main point.

But he was smart to get in when he did because the boom happened right after he bought the team.

MJ didn't appear in those video games until 2k came proper. Dude is all about his business. No business model pays better than personal branding. The best businessmen don't over complicate shyt.
