Why isn’t the history of the Arab (Muslim) Slave Trade more well known and discussed?

Interesting video. It’s breaks down what NOBODY is being taught in schools. Not here in the USA at least. :manny:

Everyone knows about the transatlantic slave trade from school/black history month and theres all these movies made about slavery in USA, Brazil, Caribbean etc but the slavery in the Arab world gets brushed over and lost in history

I might even suggest the Arab slave trade set the precedent and example for slavery and the idea of the “black/African slave” popular FIRST and ultimately made what would later come even more possible

No different than how “white Jesus” Christianity and wrong Bible verse interpretations is often been blamed for justifying slavery in USA, even more so did early Islam promote the notions that Black people (by the color of their skin or simply being African) are destined for servitude and “lesser than” those non black Muslims.

and further, it endorsed having/selling African slaves as it was practiced and a staple in the Arab world and in the Muslim teachings ( by the example set by Muhammad himself) according to the Koran.:hubie:

Throughout history the practice just spread from there all through the Arab world/culture and wherever the religion spread

Not to say slavery was ONLY tied or started with Muslims in Africa/Arabia but how this type of slavery was adopted into the society and condoned by the (non black) followers of Islam at the time is mind blowing

For a practicing Muslim wouldn’t they question why “Allah” says Black slaves are worth less than Non Black ones, for example?

The craziest fact to me in the video is how converting to Islam back then disqualified a person from being a slave UNLESS you are black/African. :jbhmm:

And how in a nutshell a lot of these same ideas/practices still exist today in many Arab countries. But you can watch the video for all the details. These aren’t my words. Just reacting to the video :youngsabo:

Here’s the YouTube channel:

It’s really eye opening stuff :whoo:

Because they're still doing it.

Arabs and Arabized Amazigh (Berbers) torment Black North Africans.

I spoke to a chick who was a Tebou of Libya and she said that Arabs are racist as hell. Another guy from Algeria (who was a dark skinned, kinky haired Amazigh) mentioned the extensive racial abuse his people experience at the hands of white skinned Arab-influenced Amazigh. Lastly, I recall a story about a Nubian Pan-Africanist chick I knew back in college who despised being from Southern Egypt. She says Arab Egyptians have called her an interloper and have told her to “go back to Sudan” despite being her family being in Egypt for millennia. Such bullshyt.

I have so many stories of black people in North Africa being abused, trafficked, killed and exploited. Arab culture has been as damaging as European culture to native African people. We (as Black Africans) must push back against Arab colonialism and violence’s we must push for the education to happen. Black Africans must control their own narrative and destiny. Decolonization is a lengthy and painful process but it must be done for African liberation.

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. Not but us can free our minds”- Bob Marley.
North Africa is occupied by Arabs.

In the video it says as a rule ONLY Black Africans were permitted to still be made slaves even after converting to Islam

So in many cases while it appeared to be a “accept Islam or be come a slave” ultimatum for most non Arabs in the Arab world, for Africans the Koran justified Slavery regardless.

Africans previously who had adopted Christianity never faced this issue by fellow non black believers unless I’m mistaken

Yea slavery existed before Islam in the region but it seems Muslims were the first to tie it to ra

:dahell:. The slavery of blacks by Arabs literally went on twice as long as European slavery.
1,000+ years and counting

For one, a lot of Black Americans throughout history were made to think Islam is the “true black mans religion” in contrast to the “white Jesus” European view of Christianity.

Just look at Muhammad Ali and maybe your favorite rapper growing up

Also knowing history can help you understand why things are today concerning black people. If you care.
I hate ni66as who say that "islam is a black man's religion" bullshyt. You just exchanged one "slave religion" for another slave religion.

This story needs to get out.
These are the stories Black filmmakers should be telling.

No one in the right mind chooses to become a Muslim..you are either born or forced into it or pick it up in federal prison like a gang. And you can't leave the religion, also like a gang

Their own books say they used to worship stones and circled a black box (tawaf) long before Islam came around.

"Narrated Abu Raja Al-Utaridi:
We used to worship stones, and when we found a better stone than the first one, we would throw the first one and take the latter, but if we could not get a stone then we would collect some earth (i.e. soil) and then bring a sheep and milk that sheep over it, and perform the Tawaf around it."

Somehow this pagan practice found it's way into Islam
Islam is just the Bedouin warrior interpretation of the Abrahamic faith traditions combined with some pre-islamic Gulf Arab faith traditions.

In fact, Allah was a pre-islamic Gulf Arab deity.

Weren’t Arabs the one who picked specific anti black Hebrew works to translate to justify slavery and then the rest of the world agreed with it?

Funny enough, I learned about the 'Arab' slave trade in school.

As somebody that isn't a fan of Christianity or Islam and thinks that Gulf Arabs are the vilest, racist, savage people on the planet, here's my take:
1. While you can compare the TAST and Arab Slave Trade there are plenty of differences and subtleties that one has to consider.
2. Both traded the same amount of Africans (12 to 15 million) but The Arab Slave Trade went on for much longer (from the start of Islam to the 20th Century and still goes on unofficially).
3. Every race, ethnicity, meta-ethnicity, nationality etc was enslaved during the Arab Slave Trade and within the MENA region. Remember ISIS/ISIL/Daesh? They were well known for enslaving. Who bore the brunt of their slaver activities? Middle Eastern Christian and Yazidi women.
4. However, according to many accounts and testimonies (which I believe) SSA slaves were treated the worst. They were beaten more brutally. Made to do the most dangerous and drudgerous work. SSA women were raped more often.

Points 3 and 4 are in tune with my opening point: Gulf Arabs are the vilest, racist, savage people on the planet and they hate everybody, including their fellow Middle Easterners.

Do I think Arab Slave Trade history should be more well known and taught? Absolutely. fukk Muslamic sentiments. However, It should be taught properly and as objectively as possible. Not from a tit for tat standpoint.

The story should be made into a movie for historical purposes and I’d love to see it:ohlawd:

but a documentary or movie on the origins of Islam and Muhammad would never be allowed because Muhammad can’t be depicted or discussed

And anyone who made a movie showing the truth of historical Islam or what’s in the Koran would be killed probably

It’s like you can’t even tell proper history of the Arab region/world because Islam and Muhammad must be overlooked

In the same vein there’s been countless movie/tv series, cartoon, plays, books etc depicting Jesus or about early Christians throughout history
