Why isn't there a black version of Taylor Swift?

This dishonest narrative here! lol. You guys don't care about modestly dressed Black women. You don't. Stop acting like you do. That's why the industry refuses to put them on. Just remember Chloe, Janelle, Sza, all started out covered up.

If you really care about seeing more variety though, here you go. Consider this your starter kit. These women have been around for YEARS. If you like what you see and want to see more of it, please give them streaming views and likes. If you don't like it, stop complaining.

Bro, Corinne Bailey Rae has been one of my favorites for years. Her sophomore effort is still dope, to this day.

I'm sorry how old are you??? Britney was THEE pop girl of her time. Taylor is this generations Britney not the other way around(but without the mental issues.

That said, Parkwood tried to push Chloe x Halle as alt pop duo, girl next door when they were teens but it was crickets for them.

I keep seeing this argument about a Black Taylor but the consumers have to support it. Nikkas ain't start paying attention to CxH for real until Chloe did that Bussit challenge. White ppl don't believe Black women and girls to be innocent and Black ppl think it's corny and strange.

I distinctly remember when Chloe X Halle first came out, all covered up, dudes on here called them corny.

I thought it was going to be Chloe & Halle but the desire for more love from the thots and thugs lured that away

Taylor Swift's dad is a wealthy 3rd generation Merryl Lynch banker who gave the record label 300k to push her.
How many black fathers have that type of money and social connections to do the same for their daughter?
More than you think.

Bigger question is how many black artists have the writers that Taylor does.

She decided to be the Little Mermaid instead

This is the only correct answer, IMO....

....and her developing a HUGE fan base once she launches her solo career isn't out of the realm of possibility, because if she truly shines (which I'd bank on) as Ariel, it's all up from there.

Beyonce-endorsed, Disney-backed, underdog (due to the controversy of the casting)....but the girl is ridiculously talented.

Throw that "Part of Your World" at the end or on the deluxe of the debut album. Easy money.

I was just about to say this.
I'm sure there's been a few others recently but no young female artist hit the scene like Brandy did when she dropped this

Nowadays sexual freedom is the rage so the girl next door vibe isn't it right now. It may start if the "soft girl" era pops

I'll impregnate Brandy right now. I love her :mjcry:

Having Ray J as a Brother in Law though :patrice:

This reminds me of Janelle Monae who did alternative pop and was ignored by the Black community until she started doing booty music videos. :francis:
I think with Janelle, her entire aesthetic threw people off. I think her “androgynous” look superseded her music.

Outside of a niche group of ppl (myself included) women did the same. It was about calling CxH flops to make Beyoncé seem bad for them not popping when her and Parkwood kept those girls visible(and still do). Now the girls are older and want to go a different way and everyone is upset and clutching pearls.
