but let's say she made a new album now and used it to say I'm the real Brittany making the music. she might have a chance but it still wouldn't be enough.
I think Halle bailey could defeat Taylor swift though if black women support her
Lmao there's simply not enough black people in total to beat white women supporting Swift in America my guy.

Let alone black women.

How many “Lisa Turtle next door” type brehettes even exist? They seem pretty damn rare in modern society especially after high school/college.

I see Megan tha stallion mentioned in the op as a bad influence. She’s actually a huge fukkin nerd with a college degree. Of course she isn’t making music about that because apparently she thought it wouldn’t appeal to the masses.

I guess the bigger question is, why do some brehettes that actually aren’t ratchet feel like they need to act ratchet to be “cool”?

We all know the answer, but not the solution. :mjcry:

Her can sing though.

White people have proven to be far more receptive to vocal mediocrity than we ever have, tbh.

Like everyone people are in here naming would stomp on Swift in a sing off, but are dwarfed by her public reception and success.

She's white mediocrity personified and welcomed.
Not everything is about singing ability.

To people who like Taylor Swift, she generally makes catchy songs that they can "vibe" or dance to. From her country pop days to now just doing pop for the past 8+ years.

Obviously, Swift's music is not for everyone but she has HUGE fanbase worldwide:manny:

This reminds me of Janelle Monae who did alternative pop/soul and was ignored by the Black community until she started doing booty music videos. :francis:
I love her first two albums (and earlier EP) but she switched up afterward.
This dishonest narrative here! lol. You guys don't care about modestly dressed Black women. You don't. Stop acting like you do. That's why the industry refuses to put them on. Just remember Chloe, Janelle, Sza, all started out covered up.

If you really care about seeing more variety though, here you go. Consider this your starter kit. These women have been around for YEARS. If you like what you see and want to see more of it, please give them streaming views and likes. If you don't like it, stop complaining.

I've been married to Lianne La Havas in my head since her first album. I want her, Corrine and Emeli to read me a bed time story because their speaking voices are as lovely as their singing. :ahh:

Does H.E.R. count?

Wouldn't Sza count? They're the same age too. Taylor is more popular tho.

I hear this on the radio a bit still.

They do count. Snoh Aalegra, Solange, Victoria Monet too. There’s a whole lane for this. They’re obviously not nearly as popular as Taylor Swift, but they’re out there. And they are very popular in our community. They don’t dominate the airwaves cuz they generally don’t make club music. But let the DJ slip one song into a set late night…everybody knows that shyt. J Cole already proved that people don’t just listen to the shyt they like to shake their ass too all day.

Edit: and them not dominating the airwaves is why they’re not in Taylor Swift’s stratosphere in terms of popularity. CaCs only know the R&B on the radio. There’s not “backpack” CaC R&B fans like there’s CaC hip hop fans who’d find a J Cole and ride that wave with us.

No but I’m objective enough to know how huge she is.

I don’t like most country music I’m more an old 70s soul and 70s rock and R&B dude when it comes to singers
I love 70’s rock and R&B too. Been listening to Al Green all week. But we just talking about black women making Taylor Swift type music which is why I posted her

Can’t speak for everybody though. I think Janelle Monae was named in the thread(rightfully so) She started out with Outkast, Big Boi told Puff about her which got her signed to Bad Boy.. and that’s all with her being covered up. Her music before she “blew up” was waaaay better to me. I really tried to like the Dirty Computer album.. I really did, but I did not.. Maybe I’ll try it again later. Everything else she put out before that was dope AF. She did her part, it’s not her fault that people didn’t jump on board until later.

Etc etc etc. she’s one of the best artists of the 2000’s and she put on one of my favorite concerts ever. 100% energy.
