Why isn't there a black version of Taylor Swift?

Breh, I get it.

But many of the biggest stars in the black cultural lexicon didn't really do they're own writing and arranging.

Some did/do like Stevie/Prince/Mariah and others but plenty were just their voices and how they were able to interpret it into the mic.

The ear, lyrics and everything else literally falls under the label of "the machine".

Hence many complaining about how the production teams of the pushed artists dwarf what resources the grass-roots artists can drum up.

People have been complaining about "studio artists" for decades because for many the artistry wasn't there.

They didn't write, they didn't create their own beats/arrangements, they just showed up, sang what was handed to them and the producer/ers did the rest.

T-Swift does write and arrange but looking at our charts, the data says we'd rather hear singers than artists.

She's Bill Withers for white women, apparently.

Depending on the genre I know singing can take a back seat to everything else but I cant recall the bar being so low

Most the singers black or white dominating the charts today arent even objectively good singers

In addition to not being involved in the writing and composition of the song

I just listened to parts of her new album earlier today with my niece and sister and I thought it was pretty good. She was able to tell stories about love and heartbreak that young girls would find relatable. Next to little vulgarity in her songs unlike 99% of the mainstream black female artists.

And more importantly, I've always found her aesthetic a breath of fresh air in the IG era. That plain Jane, Girl-Next-Door look is a rarity in this era of whores.

I want young black girls looking up to women like that as role models not Summer Walker, Megan, Doja.

Let's HOPE for one in the future.

nikkas don’t wanna see nothing but ass and titties, me included.

There’s a large Christian cac fanbase for her music. She wasn’t called America’s sweetheart for no reason :unimpressed:

Taylor Swift hasn't been a country artist in over a decade. Also, she was mainly country pop not true country music.

Country music is defined as “a style and genre of largely string-accompanied American popular music usually vocalized, generally simple in form and harmony, and typified by romantic or melancholy ballads accompanied by acoustic or electric. Basically the majority of her music

She built her fan base making generic, radio friendly country music for teenage white girls

They have grown with her and so has the size of her audience since she's gone on to experiment with different genres

Point still stands
