Why isn't there a black version of Taylor Swift?

This is the perfect thread for this thought I've had;

There's no way women are actually inspired by The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

All these City Girls ain't bumping pretty much a gospel album

That album would flop in 2022

  • Songs about infautation with a man
  • Anti fake hair and nails
  • Anti sellout
  • Religious
  • "Positive"
I give this album shyt because she never followed up and didn't give her writers proper credit (check the Source on this), but, it was a great album

The first thing they would do to a 2022 Lauryn Hill is drag her for daring to tell them what they should do while being a side chick. I can literally imagine Twitter dragging her for her personal life.

I meant modern day brother. We haven't had another Brandy in damn near 30 years now. She was so big she had her own Barbie Dolls and Cinderella stories.

Why can't we get another Brandy?

Because that’s not how they see Black girls.

Even if they appear to be that, they have to dIrty them up.
Like Chloe & Halle, Christina Milian, and them.

Normani started with a lot of promise as well. But now she's doing thot videos with Cardi B and Meg :scust:

Which also makes her work overseas because Asian countries love the blonde-haired blue-eyed girl and generic pop music. Her most defining trait is how bad she wants it to keep it up for so long, most people get bored of that box. But she’s been the least interesting pop superstar for like 15 years and that works perfect for middle America. And white people everywhere.
Spot on.. and once you get into the analytics there’s a nice chunk coming from the Asian market..

She would have been ignored if she didn’t start throwing ass and getting naked.. hence the huge difference in the numbers of her singles vs singles with ‘eye’ catching music videos.

Just get behind an artist like H.E.R. in the same way you’d get behind these female rappers. Sometimes it’s not that serious, you just need folks to get behind certain artists. There was times back in the day where a DJ would play a song that was supposed to be the single, then they’d flip it to the B-Side and that would become the hit. Taylor gets all these excuses which might be true, I don’t know or care. Shouldn’t it be easier to make stars that make all kinds of music now? It’s just crazy how Taylor is still killing after all these years, meanwhile black artists come and go, and amazing black talents end up getting screwed or don’t even get a chance to make it.

It's like you read what I said but didn't comprehend or digest anything. It's not about "getting behind" or 'supporting' certain black female up-and-coming artists. What part of "there was a huge machine behind Taylor Swift" do you not understand??

And it's not really "crazy" that Taylor is still killing the game after all these years given what I JUST fukking said.

Black women aren’t allowed to be Taylor swift in music today. There’s a specific brand of black female artist being pushed by the powers that be :unimpressed:

Because everytime a black woman came out with that type of music, she would flop. I know y'all naming the city girls, meg, lizzo etc, but the only black female artist that is selling currently is Beyonce and that highlights an even bigger problem to me. These women can get on social media and make a tweet about how the industry don't support black women, but when other black women albums drop they nowhere to be found.

Do we really need a black Taylor swift ?:why:

some most boring, generic, lifeless straight off the conveyor belt ass music you’ll ever hear in your life

No offense to you bro but this is what's wrong with black people.

Yes, our little girls need boring, generic, lifeless music right now.

We're at the place we're at right now because we've been so caught up in trying to do anything but. And that has led us down a path where we've become comfortable with the erosion of moral standards and degeneracy.

We need to recalibrate our palette which means finding the joy in blandness because this overseasoned nonsense black people are being fed is inedible.
