Why isn't there a single great soccer player from the US?

I agree 100%. But, a fast ass kid could still shine faster in football than soccer. I'm just speaking on the initial contact with the sport.

depends on the competition though too..if the kid is that fast early he'll dominate every field sport.

My man - no disrespect, but no matter what anyone says, you're still gonna think it's wack. You've repeatedly admitted that you know nothing about the sport, yet you're in most of the soccer threads dissin?

this is why im asking these questions
soccer heads are quick to state something to big up their sport while belittling otherz
then when challenge refuse to respond

That's basically what I'm saying. He'll shyt on cats in football faster than he would in soccer.

Only if he gets touched. Speed kills.

quickness kills in football more than straight line speed...way more. It's instincts and quickness...a lot of track athletes dont have that.

meh. it'd be marginal. An athlete at that age dominates everything he touches for the most part unless he's uncoordinated.

You're deluded. I wrote an entire response, and your rebuttal was "Well see I don't believe that shyt." :snoop:

I can't debate with the willfully ignorant.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
1) Don't see the the 30%. I do see ESPN and MLS agreeing to a 8 year deal worth over 600 million so ratings must be just fine.

2) A 4 percent fall in youth soccer participation between 2008 and 2012 isn't bad when tackle football participation has fallen 5.4 percent in the same time span and basketball and baseball have fallen 7-8 percent. Seems like youth sports participation is falling across the board.

Plus the top youth league, the US Soccer Developmental Academy, has grown exponentially in that same time period, building 79 youth facilities across the country in the past 6 years.

1.) That isnt all that surprising, every league has been able to negotiate well above market value. Wait till the NBA gets its turn.

http://nypost.com/2014/05/12/mls-unveils-breakthrough-tv-contract-with-fox-and-espn/

The article basically states that while the contract was a huge win for the MLS, but also a huge gamble- With respect to its recent nosedive in ratings.

2.) Yea, soccer participation didn't fall 'as much' as basketball or football, but that is a poor argument. Soccer and its popularity is still largely in its infancy phase for much of American market. Any decline in participation for the sport would be prove far more detrimental to its popularity than the more established brands in the states...

:what:
u had no link to support ur opinion

we supposes to take ur word as bond -post a link (if so i'll admit u was right) and keep it moving on this part

http://blogs.wsj.com/dailyfix/2014/06/18/soccer-not-a-level-playing-field-for-girls-in-brazil/

Still, you just have to look at the numbers to see that not all is well. According to a global survey by FIFA, women made up for less than 1% of the two million registered soccer players in Brazil in 2006—they don’t even appear to have done a more recent study on women’s participation in soccer. In comparison, almost 40% of the registered players in the U.S. were women. While in the U.S., the majority of the players were under age 18, in Brazil the opposite happened. The U.S. had six times more women’s soccer clubs in 2006.

How can Brazil, a country that lives and breathes soccer, shut out girls like this?

“The problem is purely cultural,” says Luciane Castro, a sports journalist and member of a commission formed by Brazil’s sports ministry in 2012 to find ways to improve the visibility of women’s soccer in the country.

“We live in a macho society, where not only men, but also women, including mothers, tell girls at a young age that soccer is a boy’s thing.” Ironically, Brazilian women made up 53% of the country’s viewership of the 2010 World Cup.

“The problem with women’s soccer in Brazil is lack of infrastructure and investment, not only at the national level, but also locally,” said Daiane Bagé, a member of Brazil’s national team, who saw many friends at Santos become unemployed overnight.

Even in a more developed country like England, women were banned from playing soccer until 1971.

When football is finally outlawed in 2040, many of the US''s best athletes will be playing soccer, ushering in a new era of world sports domination.

Until then...

Imagine Russ, D-Rose, Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, etc. as soccer players coming up through a structured farm system.

UNSTOPPABLE.

You can't tell me they wouldn't be some of the greatest soccer players playing right now.
Basically, once black kids start taking this shyt seriously, its a wrap.

USA training resources are unmatched by most of the world.
