Why isn't there a single great soccer player from the US?

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
But he ain't got he skills

:merchant:

Fam, we're talking about the hypothetical about someone like Russ or any number of PGs, SGs, WRs, DBs having picked soccer at an early age over their current sports. So instead of 15+ years of learning to play basketball, Russ had 15+ years of playing soccer combined with American training that led to him being athletic as hell.

So of course Russ doesn't have skills, but the question is what will the landscape of soccer look like if dudes who are as athletically gifted as Russ/Rose etc had played soccer early on and stuck with it.

Given Russy's aggressive and physical play, defender? :ld:
you kind right, lowkey

Forward

He's 6'3" 192lbs, that's not exactly much larger than Ronaldo :yeshrug:

And we got athletic numbers on Ronadlo :lupe: Russy's blow his out the water.
those dimensions look more centerback and even goalkeeper. :ld:

but more than anything, we have no idea what his feet do. To play forward, you have to be able to make runs into space, play the offside line to your advantage, and hold off defenders without fouling.

And none of that goes into what he does with his feet. How is his first touch? Can he play in tight space? Can he finish chances?

This is the problem. You can put Russy into the sport at 5 years old and tell him to play, but if there isnt the environment to nurture him he would become Eddie Johnson or Johann Smith.

this breh is named Chris Klute, he is a decent left back for the Colorado Rapids. He ran the 40 in 4.3 seconds. He is 6'1" and 172 lbs.

I said decent because breh wasnt anywhere near good enough to make the world cup for the USA.

He's only 1" taller than Thierry Henry breh, come on now.

No, Westbrook can't do anything of those things, he's a basketball player. But, if a significant portion of NFL/NBA player had been diverted to soccer as children instead of football and basketball, a small percentage of these hyper athletes would end up with those skills you're asking about, it's sheer law of averages.

If Nate Robinson had picked soccer as a kid, do you realistically think Clint Dempsey would be a more effective player than him? Considering we know Nate was good enough to be a D1 athlete in 2 sports, what if all of his focus went to playing soccer when he was a little kid? Someone that we know is driven and determined....

breh, if Thierry Henry lived in the US he wouldnt be Thierry Henry. He would be Terry Henry who is a decent MLS forward. This, even though his parents were from Martinique and had a love for soccer and put it on to their son. The US doesnt have the environment to cultivate that type of player.

Russy would be the same way. I have seen a Russy in MLS, his name is Teal Bunbury

The US doesn't have it yet, we were talking about the inevitable decline in little kids playing football. If tomorrow football lost half the kids that played it and soccer got that talent pool, we'd be better within 10 years simply because of the nature of competition in the US. The environment would work itself out, it's funny, cause this is exactly what is happening to us in basketball with the rest of the world catching up. You don't think little kids would be looking at youtube clips of Ronaldo trying to learn how to chop nikkas up on the pitch? :mjpls:

How you just gonna disrespect :youngsabo: like that, you know a nikka named Teal could never be on the same level as Russ off his name alone.

My understanding - and this is as an outsider - is twofold in that:

1) We don't funnel out best athletes (or a MAJORITY of out athletes) toward soccer, as many other countries do....
and 2) We don't have the infrastructure to sift through talent, identify the great ones at low levels in more far-flung areas, and then get them into top teams and training... which is somewhat related to the first.

If you want to be great at soccer in the US, you generally have to have money or access.... the training, the travel teams, they're not easily accessible to some kid from alabama or east new york, or wherever... ... baseball has started to lean that way as well.

I was arguing with a friend the other night while watching the World Cup (and drinking) and said that the Concussion information revolution/TBI issue in football, could be the blessing that moves American Soccer into the elite tier.

(It won't happen...but...) If across the nation parents started guiding their children away from football and into futbol... we'd be one of the top nations a decade from now.

Pop warner participation is declining, nobody wants their kids to end up vegetables. Come on breh, it happened to the US in beisbol and basketball, why then is it so hard to imagine the US turning into a power in Soccer? So as I understand it, the rest of the world can catch the US in sports it's traditionally the best at, but the US in turn can't do the same...

The Deep State
didn't u see the Cameroon - Croatia game? nikkas had to resort to elbow chops and shyt.

==
biggest problem is coaching. and like nikkas said on here most basketball and football players wouldn't be able to play it.
no doubt.

I'm not contesting this.

its why modern african teams can't hack it.

they've got the physical talent, but no mechanisms to translate that into wins.

we created baseball and basketball and had our methods created first, before everyone else.

We werent first in soccer.

AND if we are going to be 100 with this, the US doesnt probably doesnt have the best structure to produce the very best basketball players anymore and per capita probably arent tops in baseball either. We have the athletes, numbers, and history and thats what gets us over but the game is taught better to the European players.

I posted a breh that may, and that was ignored. :sas2:
