Why isn't Wale bigger/more popular than he is?

Because when he signed to MMG he became a self righteous pompous douchebag parading as a skilled poet.

Wale is better off going the J.Cole route, stray away from the media/mainstream/radio/gossip lane and just stay working on his core fanbase.

Him and Cole got practically the same fanbase.(College educated, young people, women, conscious etc)

Only difference is, every once in a while Wale tries to hit mainstream and get on that Drake/Big Sean lane, while Cole stays underground and always treats his core.
(1 dollar concerts, direct consumer interaction, visiting the fans, college runs etc)

Because he is like the "all around" character in a video game. He is a 6 or 7 in every category with no 2's or 9's. Nothing stands out about him other than him being an overly emotional bytch. In this climate, you need to be known for something to get attention.

Wale had a a lot of hype and i was a big fan and idk what happened. His debut album was kind;ve a flop, he had Lady Gaga on a song too early.

Me personally i just lost interest once he got to MMG. And got into all these weak ass twitter beefs and shyt. Even he tried to act tough to some Wizards commentator......its all corny. Plus he can't make a great project unless its Seinfeld inspired which is weird.
The Gifted is about a 9/10 album breh. That shyt is incredible.

Him and Big Sean basically traded places in hip-hop. Wale was right there under Cole/Kendrick/Drake, but if you compare recent album numbers, Sean and Wale really did swap slots.

His album was great though, and I'm sure he'll continue to grow. The Matrimony with Usher is a hit.
