:whoa:

Maybe this could be combined with the civilian review board idea, and that board (perhaps it could work like jury duty :ohhh: people rotate in and out each year or something) chooses from the competing firms...

Seems like outfitting all police with cameras would be a lot easier and more effective.

Body cams, a civilian review board, UNPAID leave after any and all incidents, harsher than general civilian punishments for any wrong doing, independent investigators with any uncooperative individuals being met with fines/prison time, all civil suits involve the officer directly, not the city.

I'm a pro-union guy, but police unions should be illegal. If an officer does want to speak out about department issues, they become a pariah. They always cover their own dirt.

Blue wall of silence has little to nothing to do with the union though.

True.
They just wouldnt have a forced monopoly on providing law enforcement, and receiving those funds.

We've seen how private prisons treat prisoners, I think that would bleed over to private law enforcement and not make a damn difference.

Robocop OCP?

a police force thats Blackwater

tell you what why not just have private courts -

you know what lets do away with cops and courts all together -=

just go back to the days of a posse and meting out justice as a group - and if the guy needs to be tried he can be tried in neighborhood court - with a judge instead of a jury -

as a matter of fact lets have pvt cops and pvt courts and pvt or just citizen army

if you are a guy you have to have a gun /rifle/ and if war needs to be waged you go out and wage it else you do you

you are genius - none of this stuff has ever been done

immma move to canada becuase the american public is gettting stupider by the day

That is a worthwhile reform, but it's just a matter of time before a cop decided to turn the camera off and do whatever they were gonna do anyway. You can see all the excuses beforehand: the camera malfunctioned; it was knocked loose in a scuffle; I accidentally turned it off; etc.

We're dealing with an institutional problem. It needs an institutional solution. Technology won't address that satisfactorily.

I think those fears are unfounded. This technology has the ability to change the mindset of officers on the streets.

:heh: No, it doesn't, at least not in any significant way. What I described has already begun, there are already numerous incidents and the use of body cams isn't even that widespread yet :heh:

Wouldnt be any different then what we have now...Except private police forces wouldnt get to investigate themselves and find they did nothing wrong:usure:

I think people just see "privatize" and get shook for no reason. :manny:
you don't even know what the words you're using mean

Ultimately power and law enforcement has to rely at a final source. Thats the government's police.

This isn't Baghdad idiot

I'm not going all free market and sh*t, but at the end of the day, govt. is only accountable to govt. :manny: It investigates itself, decides whether its wrong or not and what its punishment should be. If going private changed only that, it would still be well worth it IMHO.
... and police unions are huge lobbyist, not sure where you @JahFocus CS are going with the private firms would lobby stuff.

90% of the fears people have with privatized law enforcement are occurring now under public enforcement. I really cant wrap my head around the opposition to it.
:mjlol:

Yeah you are. Thats all you do. :dead:
