And how would that improve on the current arrangement? The police force would be contracted by the state or county. No one would be left in the cold...

Competition would force improvements. How much exactly is hard to say...And how would that improve on the current arrangement?

Competition?Competition would force improvements. How much exactly is hard to say...
But one thing is for certain, they wouldn't have the luxury of investigating their own wrong doing.![]()
How exactly would this work? Hundreds to thousands of dudes with their families moving around like migrants trying to land contracts? Or some private equity firm hiring rent a cops at minimum wage?
U need to get therapy to work on your "private industry" ticSimilar to govt. construction contracts now... with private law enforcement firms bidding for county or state contracts. The point being that a force could be terminated and replaced by another force, should the people being served desire it.Competition? How exactly would this work? Its not a fix all, and I'm sure you can point out a few more problems if you tried, but the question is how is it worse than what we have now?
Govt contracts? U mean those black holes of waste and overpayment? Im sure if I searched I could find u tearing those down, now they are your only saving grace for private police forcesSimilar to govt. construction contracts now... with private law enforcement firms bidding for county or state contracts. Having to bribe a politician to get a favorable investigation, is already more than they have to do now...
In theory the police union would lose power as well, weakening the iron wall of protection that surrounds cops now...

Body cams and private(contracted) law enforcement is the way to go IMHO.

dead7First I want to be clear, you are comparing the U.S. side by side with Iraq and insinuating that because it didnt work in Iraq, it cant work here? That worked out well in Iraq didn't it?
Such as?The system we have now could work well with reform.

@DEAD7 is too polite. He is debating without the need to throw personal attacks unlike his adversaries.
I may not always agree with whatever breh says but I don't think I've ever seen him attempt a personal attack upon anyone.

. Even though we disagree on some things, I enjoy having discussions with the breh.Military contractors are not beholden to a community the way a police force is, but I get the point... and think it would still be better than what we have now.I believe he's referencing private military contractors like Blackwater, as I did earlier in the thread.
Not really sure there is anything more I can say, since no system will be perfect... and judging by how no one has been able to clearly state how it would be worse than our current system, Ill just have to accpet that we aren't ready for such a bold idea.
No matter how you look at it or try to change the system, you can't expect justice from them. It's inherent.
