My wife in Taiwan did the same thing.

I was never allowed to walk to school alone at that age.

even though this is probably the most peaceful and safe time in America, I still feel unsafe having my Kids outside.

Every neighborhood is so diverse in NorCal, I trust anyone. I don't trust racist whites or Indians to give a damn about my kids.

I don't want my kids around those people until they are ready to defend themselves and understand those types of people only understand violence. As of right now, my kids are deep into the Sino sphere and trapped in the L-7 mindset. They wouldn't even how to deal with the hood kids where I grew up.
