like i said money can only take you so far there are probably guys who stay contacting rappers for features who could probably play thousands if not several hundreds thousands but get turned down daily. if it was all about the money we would be seeing all types of weird collabs and features. French hand a fukking joint mixtape with fetty wap last year and fetty wap was the biggest rapper of last year do you really think french paid for that shyt

French is a really cool dude. There's a reason why Diddy still messes with despite Bad Boy Records no longer being around...

An album and 2 videos with no buzz or fanbase?

:heh:
shyt makes no sense and if it wasn't written by @nikkaz In Paris I'd find it hard to believe. Actually correction, I've seen a number of ppl who have no clue what they're doing, do dumb shyt business wise so it is believable...

Why did you make a new thread about this? :dahell:
Your people had a bad formula. Had they spent the money differently it would have had a better outcome. They should have had electronic press kits, bought some radio play, at least worked the record etc. I'm sure there are people who spent the same amount of money and went further. Master P spent x amount of money to get MJ's lawyer who told him if he spent six figures he could get the best deal. That's what he did. If you want to say the lawyer was the relationship cool but keep in mind that the lawyer wouldn't even talk to him without the bread. Source is the breakfast club interview. Not the last one but the one he did before that when he discussed his bio movie.

Plus it sounds more like people didn't want to work with them because of their attitudes and less to do with money can't buy you success. Also, from what I understand, the music industry of the past didn't really mess with Chicago artist like that because they know what most of them is down with. Organized Crime! The same thing I told ya boy in the other thread. Def Jam probably didn't want the federal investigations that come with doing business with BMF especially on the heels of the Murda Inc. bs. Of course you would turn down that money if it meant losing it all.

So a certain artist had a hot track and got a NY dj to co-sign it and attach his name to it. Me and this other cat is talking to a producer who is down with the artist. He didn't produce the joint but he just knows the artist and even appeared in the video. So homie is asking him questions about how the track came together and what not because he's a rapper too (who isn't right?). He thinks dude was waiting outside the station for the dj or some ish he asked him, I don't remember exactly what he said but some romantic notion like that.

The producer tells him no, he had to pay the dj for that. :childplease: The artist label had money from a one hit wonder who was signed to them and was able to make it happen. I'm going to pm the video to you but don't put it out there for the public.

Yes, you are correct which was the purpose of the thread that money means nothing if you don't have the right attitude, plan & more importantly hustle to succeed. I'm not disagreeing with anyone stating the situation was handled horribly at all.

I was part of the project, it wasn't my project if that makes sense. And everything you've stated was brought up in several meetings with the "backer" but after a while you can only waste so many words trying to explain to someone WHY you need to do shows, EPK's, have content, push mixtapes in the street, etc. You are right that the formula sucked & a lot of people who were part of this particular situation understood this & tried time & time again to correct the course but the only person whose decision mattered was the one who was cutting the checks & he wouldn't budge... being hard headed literally cost him millions with ZERO return at the end of the day. This was back around 2002-2003 & cats left the situation around 2004-2005ish. At the time it was all I had to be honest because it was my first introduction into this industry if that makes sense.

And no problem I won't share it.

Last time I spoke with Mikkey he was teaching at a school. Boo & Gotti (at least up until 2011) were still with Cash Money & living in Miami. I do howver believe Boo is producing behind the scenes. I know he still has money...

Is Boo the light skin one? I saw him at a publix parking lot in Atlanta. He was in a rimmed up Bentley

@nikkaz In Paris man you brought back memories with this one. I remember all those names in your original post. Pheave got signed then the next year...I'm doing open mics with him at the US Beer Company. I was like wtf. What happened to that dude Hot2Def he was getting looks for a minute to and disappeared.
Man those early/mid 2000s years was full of hope in the city and folks dropped the ball left and right.

Edit:
Doesnt Mikkey manage either Herbo or Bibby?
