Very boss, minus the "Your generation decided to steal music" part; nah son, our generation decided we aren't going to Best Buy or Tower Records to spend $20 a CD for albums loaded up with a bunch of filler.

Im about to start a youtube playlist that rivals my mp3 collection in a bit, so when im working i can just start up the windows 8 or xbox youtube app and let those bytches shuffle while I work.

I would watch MTV Jams more if they didnt play the same hour long rotation and if the channel was in HD. Funny spoof though :heh:

nikka shutup....its stealing. be real about it :aicmon:

Some bullshyt if you ask me like its already been said, by the time "my generation" started supposedly stealing music, the music itself was a piece of shyt to begin with and a shell of its former self because of these same "heads" that pushed what sold not what was quality, so they can suck my :shaq:

They always pushed what sold.

People steal music cos it's easy, even easier than paying for it.

If people could do that with cars, no one would pay for a car again and it wouldn't be a quality issue at all, it would be cos people likd getting shyt for nothing.

nah breh I don't agree. black markets, even the internet, come about to satisfy a need that's not met through legal channels. As the internet has aged and corporations have started to adapt, the digital purchasing community has grown.

When I was a teenager and when I was in college I pirated everything(cause I was broke, so regardless I wouldn't have bought the legit physical/digital copies anyways). Now that I'm an adult and have a job, I don't mind renting a new movie from Vudu or Xfinity for $4.99 or buying for $13.99, rather than downloading a torrent or from file-sharing site. Same goes with music if I bought retail cds, but I usually download off the blogs cause no one is making great retail cds anymore(and that's not stealing music since all those songs are authorized by the label for promotion)

Its why Im not even bothering to respond to the other nikka.

Some of these cats haven't bought a CD in years. YEARS. they rationalize downloading by saying its a waste of money becuase no good music comes out anymore. bullshyt. Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick, Ross, Kanye, Wale all have put out quality material over the last 2 years. You nikkas just dont want to pay for shyt :rudy:

Drake - I don't enjoy RnB, him featured on a song/random freestyle Drizzy is decent.
J. Cole - Dude's alright, but am not a regular listener
Kendrick - Very talented, but not a fan of his voice.
Ross - Ross Mixtape > Ross retail w a bunch of john legend features and hooks
Kanye - I bought MBDTF and Watch The Throne(I regret buying WTT) and almost bought The Good Music Compilation(thank god I didn't, and almost every Good Friday track > that compilation)
Wale - Never been a fan
Big Sean - Finally Famous 3 > Finally Famous (dude totally sold out)

The big hip hop stars don't generally make CDs for hip hop heads anymore, they use their mixtapes for that. And I support artists I listen to whenever they are performing in my city. I'd probably buy Jay Electronica's CD if it ever dropped.

I buy/rent way more movies than I pirate, because they figured out how to make that shyt stream instantly in hq(less waiting than downloading, so I'll spend because it's offering me a benefit over pirating).

And that car example is ridiculous, comparing a $5-$15 dollar purchase to a thousand dollar plus purchase, shyt didn't even make sense. :deadrose:

If people never had to pay for bread again and could steal it instantly in their house, no one would buy bread again.

Stop acting like people are downloading on some "I'm gonna show the industry what I think, I'm taking a stand...." shyt, their taking it cos it's free and easy to do.

I ain't even saying its wrong, but lets call it what it is.

Everything seemed to be on point. However, I have to object to that whole "my generation" claim;I was in the fifth or sixth grade when napster dropped, ya bish. Blame the nikkas born in the early eighties for the mass downloading that took place during that time period.lol.

I understand what you two are saying, I don't know how old you guys are as well...but most adults I know or talk to, legally buy their music online or have paid subscriptions to Spotify(many adults aren't even that computer savvy, it's easier for them to go to itunes, google play store, amazon or spotify then it would be for them to find the illegal downloads). It's mostly teenagers and college-kids outright stealing, and they have hardly any disposable income as it is.

The more creative and easy they make legitimately purchasing music online, the more labels' revenues will start returning to what they were use to. The music industry is now a service industry, it's on them to figure out how to make that said service faster and easier than piracy.

BBC News - Streaming music revenues up 40% globally in 2012
Industry Statistics - Digital music revenue will hit $5.34 billion by 2012, study forecasts - Internet Retailer
Streaming music services are giving the music industry a huge revenue boost | VentureBeat

It's not our fault they didn't embrace this shyt at the beginning, the old white heads at the top exec spots didn't want their 30-year-old-plus-money-making-plan to crumble.
