It's going to cause a lot of people to get frail prematurely.
The main reason people get frail when they get old is loss of muscle mass. Contrary to what they might believe, being on Ozempic doesn't just cause people to lose fat. It causes people to lose a lot of muscle that they'll probably never gain back (especially if they stay on it).
I suspect we'll see a lot of 50 year olds moving like they're 70 and fracturing their hips in falls and shyt in another decade or two.
Just to add to this for clarification: Ozempic and GLP-1s at the most basic level of explanation cause you to eat less and feel full longer. Those things lead to less calories in, which inevitably leads to weight loss. Straight physics, laws of the universe. Your body will break down any tissues you don’t use to fill its energy needs and muscle is usually first to go. The only way to keep muscle mass or build it is to lift weights and eat protein. It's going to cause a lot of people to get frail prematurely.
