The only thing about the video is that they really didn't explain why generations of black people were taught not to swim. It's one thing to say "don't go near the water, because you can't swim". But black families, generations of them, actively prevented their kids from learning how to swim. The video didn't go into depth on that point.

They put two different points together that aren't necessarily cause and effect.

Parents never learned how to swim and when their kids wanted to try swimming they couldn't because the parents were fearful of being useless if their kids ended up drowning. from there it became cyclical.

A friend just taught me recently. Took about 15 mins to get the form down on swimming a few different ways. Just need to practice now.
