Do blacks live in the Charlotte suburbs as well or is it segregated where most just live in the city? And what suburbs are the best ones to be in? (Diverse, good schools, walkability) I know walkability is a long shot in the south.
I mean Charlotte is pretty much one big suburb, so.... But from my experience, there hasn't been one suburb that I been, where I've went to the store and haven't seen a black person. Even ones that I knew were pretty white. I did a lot of research online, before I made the move, and chose a suburb that was middle class, had a good elementary school, but had a DIVERSE elementary school, and that had a lot to do for families. That's why I went with Highland creek. My son goes to the elementary school and it's like 41% black and 39% white, and is rated pretty well as an elementary school. Ballantyne and some the whiter areas like Matthews, Weddington, etc, have really good elementary schools, but they're very white. I went to mostly white schools my whole life, so I wasn't putting my son through that. But on my street alone there are like 7 black families. We all have houses. Everyone seems to be doing well.
But again, the commute is a factor. You have to make sure that you live within 30 minutes of where you work, because people don't know how to drive here, for shyt. No offense to anyone lol. I was willing to make the commute, because I wanted my son to be in this area, and like I said my neighborhood has good amenities like 5 pools, a fitness center, tennis court, golf area, and some other things that are exclusive to residents. Huntersville seems good, and it's actually pretty close too. But again, it wasn't as white as ballaynte or Matthews, but still not enough blacks at the schools to me. It depends on your priorities.
