I understand on your end. Though, I live in Jersey.........you cant compare taxes bruh?
Yea I come from a state with no state income tax, low sales tax, and relatively low property tax so I am spoiled. I use to work remotely out of a Charlotte office and my company tried to take out NC taxes out my check once I called HR and got that shyt fixed quick. I couldn't believe they take out that much of people check for taxes. New Jersey income tax is less if you make under $75K although property tax is way lower in NC

You live near me, there's hardly any "authentic" restaurants in this area lol

If you feel like driving all the way down to Monroe Rd. near the Elizabeth neighborhood, there's a cool little hole in the wall spot called Lupie's Cafe

Lol. I don't feel like driving far out for food. But, if I'm ever out that way, I'll probably stop there! Thanks.

Hold up mane! There’s a whataburger in Carolina? :ohhh:

You shouldn’t have told me that. From Winston, I used to drive 20/30 mins down to Lexington for some Godfathers pizza. It ain’t no thang to drive down to Concord or Kanapolis for some of that great food!

Brehhh they in whiteville, concord and Kannapolis
:wow:

Might have to turn a whataburger trip into a day trip

Something that is a little interesting, is the cost of groceries... It's actually more expensive out here, than when I was in Philly. People have told me to go to Aldi's, but I'm too bougie lol... I haven't tried Food Lion. But Harris Teeter and Publix are the only two options that are close to where I live. But they are both pretty expensive.

Do blacks live in the Charlotte suburbs as well or is it segregated where most just live in the city? And what suburbs are the best ones to be in? (Diverse, good schools, walkability) I know walkability is a long shot in the south.

I mean Charlotte is pretty much one big suburb, so.... But from my experience, there hasn't been one suburb that I been, where I've went to the store and haven't seen a black person. Even ones that I knew were pretty white. I did a lot of research online, before I made the move, and chose a suburb that was middle class, had a good elementary school, but had a DIVERSE elementary school, and that had a lot to do for families. That's why I went with Highland creek. My son goes to the elementary school and it's like 41% black and 39% white, and is rated pretty well as an elementary school. Ballantyne and some the whiter areas like Matthews, Weddington, etc, have really good elementary schools, but they're very white. I went to mostly white schools my whole life, so I wasn't putting my son through that. But on my street alone there are like 7 black families. We all have houses. Everyone seems to be doing well.

But again, the commute is a factor. You have to make sure that you live within 30 minutes of where you work, because people don't know how to drive here, for shyt. No offense to anyone lol. I was willing to make the commute, because I wanted my son to be in this area, and like I said my neighborhood has good amenities like 5 pools, a fitness center, tennis court, golf area, and some other things that are exclusive to residents. Huntersville seems good, and it's actually pretty close too. But again, it wasn't as white as ballaynte or Matthews, but still not enough blacks at the schools to me. It depends on your priorities.

I mess with Lupies. I make it a mission to try and eat at places that aren’t chain restaurants. I’ll just list places I frequent

Merts Cafe even though people say it’s overrated. I like it though.

Soul Central in Plaza Midwood

Krazy Fish.. I wanted to try after seeing it on Diners Drive in’s and Dives. Good food and it’s pretty inexpensive

I mess with Prices’s Chicken Coop and Leroy Fox in South End. Leroy Fox ain’t an everyday thing though but good to go to with friends.

Brixx pizza. It’s more chain-ish but it originated in Charlotte. I like them and most brick oven styled pizza

South Crack
extremely gentrified, half of the the northeast is crippled and streets blocked off because of that light rail... I-277 is a complete mess with the reconstruction going on... so called luxury apartments (which are nothing but over-priced dorms) popping up all over the place...unnecessary valet parking everywhere....south carolina drivers driving like fricking maniacs.... gentrification bicycles and scooters is the new wave... the clubs and women is like any other city you know how that go...pandlers begging for money is at every intersection even in the burbs...the job market is cool for IT but that's the only market I know although the Indians run this sht - seems like they took over the university area but I don't mind living around them bc they mind their business

The speed limit is just a suggestion, drive faster. :troll:
Turning signals are optional, guess correctly if you behind me.:troll:

Good list. I wanted to add this Korean fried chicken restaurant over off Park Road and Woodlawn, Bonchon. Reasonable pricing and it was really good, trying to find some time to go back over there for the lunch special

Seafood Connection too off of Albemarle Road. When I saw the price of the trays I was skeptical, but that was a lot of damn food they put in that carryout box

I remember I met this group of ladies out one night and we were talking about food spots. One of them said, "Nah, I don't like Mert's. That's white people soul food" :mjlol:
