Yeah. its a one year deal.... and I would've got that 12.5 million and manifested a back injury forcing me to sit half the season and then probably look for a contender the following season........ its just a lick to appealing to pass up, even if I'm caked up.......

The only other thing I can see if this is going to be his last year in the NBA and if that's the case, I get it...... but I think he has 2 solid years left in him

I feel pretty strongly he is going to get another 2 or 3 year deal from somebody if he wants rather the spurs win the chip this year or not next year...

With a legit 4 man big rotation he is going to save a ton of mileage on his body...

Playing what...maybe 15 minutes a game?

So guy who has made almost 90 million dollars already in his life...

Is more likely to turn down 10 million dollars than a guy who hasn't made 10 million dollars in his life...

:yeah ok:

When I was young and selling drugs on the street there was pretty much nothing I wouldn't do to make a 100k...

Now that I do make a 100k a year the list of things that I won't do for money is pretty fukking long...
STFU with this dumb shyt. :scust:

He's made about 70 Million over the last 7 seasons.

Maybe he felt like, what's the difference betwen 70 and 80. Or maybe there's an understanding that he'll get a nicer deal next season after some of the Spurs vets move on.

That's a lot of money but he is 35 now, he wants to win before leaving. I have to give him props, the lowest I would have went for was 5-7 million.

I don't agree with the move to SA, but I can see why David West did it. You have an emerging superstar in Kawhi Leonard, a top 5 PF in Aldridge, and an experienced Spurs team who knows how to win. You're at the tail end of your career and you want to win something to show for it in the form a championship.

But, no matter how good the team is, the ring isn't guaranteed, but the money that was left on the table was. You may never have another pay day like that in your career again. And that money could make a difference down the line when your career is over. But who knows? Maybe dude was already financially literate and hasn't pissed away his money like alot of players have in the past.

But it's one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type of scenarios. You're applauded for taking less money to win a ring, but also chastised for chasing the money and not seeing winning as a priority.
