The Russian elite has less to do with religion and everything to do with friendship. Its who you know over there, not what religion you are. Russia is more anti-religion to begin with so that aspect doesn't factor into the political world nearly as much as it does here.

Christians and Muslims don't identify themselves in all those aspects like Jews do in regards to religion/race/ethnicity. Thats different in the Jew community and the reason Jews worldwide have a stronger sense of community. I'm not very religious and tend to be agnostic(product of the Russian environment). Been in a church more times than temple.

Thats actually one of the brighter points of having Israel as a nation. It gives displaced Jews around the world a place to call home.

I went to Catholic school for 2 years in middle school. Didn't know better so every Friday we'd go to church and the first time I was there, I went up in the communion line until my one and only other Jew friend at the school started laughing at me to sit back down.
