Sampling is cool . I'm a fan . But usually when people sample a song that's already used the sample and they don't pull if off as good as the og sample song. The Mary Version is way better than what was posted in the 1st post .

just bcuz (granted I like the “original” better than the remix…they both dope tho)…

Damn, I never thought I'd say this but watching these videos really brings into focus that Puff had vision.
He turned hood kids with potential into superstars.
It also reminds me that this was the moment where hip-hop truly turned into pop music.
This was a weird time. Of all people, after Biggie's death, who emerged as the hottest rapper in the game? Puff.
The Tunnel became the Studio 54 of hip-hop.
We can debate Puff and all his bullshyt all day but we dont have anyone with a vision for hip-hop anymore.
We just get dusty nikkas throwing up gang signs and pointing guns at the camera in videos.

And no, I didn't listen to the track in the OP.
I just dont care enough.

I find myself listening to a lot of older shyt pre-96 when going pop or being viewed as pop was heavily frowned upon and arguably the death knell of some groups…I can’t definitively say puffy/bad boy changed that but at the very least they solidified that change…and yeah I absolutely respect him getting on the frontline and catapulting bad boy to the next level after biggie’s death although some will feel he stood on a lot of his artists’ backs to do so while he received most of the credit but ya it comes down to his vision

Yea this and the version Whoppa Wit The Choppa and Spinabenz did are fire. That’s how you do samples, not the weak sounding stuff that Saweetie and other folks usually do.
